I've been getting my shadow ready for the ice racing season this year and ended up making up a rear shock brace to help tie things together. I've seen some others and didn't like the idea of only 1 mounting bolt on each side allowing it an easy place to flex. I built mine out of 1" schedule 40 pipe and some 1.5" angle. I also built it to use 2 bolts on each side to hold everything in square. I removed the rear seat/speaker brackets because they were not needed and were in the way. I also boxed the lower panhard bar and cross brace. I'm adding a shelby Z swaybar with PB bushings. I'm going to try this setup and see how it handles. From there I'll be looking at possible spring/shock/strut upgrades.

Oooh I so need a set of those tires! Question, why not tie the bar into the roll cage?

Probably could have but I did the roll bar last year and I just bought a generic 4pt kit for 75 bucks and the rear bars weren't very long. If I would have been doing it all at once that would probably be the best way to go. Maybe bring the rear bars down to the shocks and then tie them together or something like that.

This is all I have right now from when I was putting it together. I can take some closeups tomorrow if you want.

Thanks Benji, that should be ok, I'll have to see where my cage comes down to see if I could tie it in to that. I have a sway bar in the back I may see how it reacts that way first.

Pretty much but you can brake extremely late because the tires grab so good, so good that the back end gets a little loose. I almost lost it a few times last year. There is one track that I go to that is more of a L shape so you actually have to turn right once.

If you look closely at the top of the wheel well you can see where the shock brace was spot welded in. I centered my brace in between the spot welds which put it in the center of the factory shock brace underneath. You just have to make sure that you keep the bolts far enough to the outside so that the shock doesn't interfere.
