what kind of supercharger does the SRT-6 use? CSC? Eaton roots-style blower? maybe a whipple? i looked at allpar and wikipedia and could not find the info. even looking at a pic of the engine bay i couldn't tell. i'm just curious really.

thanks

I think usually the Benz stuff uses a twin screw style blower. I know on the SRT6 it has the clutch driven blower setup. Cool cars though, I'd love to have one as a totally impractical daily!

Evidently it uses the same engine as a SLK32 AMG

IHI makes the supercharger.

Whats with the clutch setup? I've driven a supercharged GTP without the belt and you can definately feel the difference. The SC also freewheels, lol!

my friend's GTP is like that right now lol. he lost his keys and had to have the dealership make them again, and for some reason they had to reflash his PCM and he lost his DHP tune. with the stock programming he was getting alot of KR at part throttle (this is with a smaller 3.4" pulley) so he just took the belt off. as you probably know the belt doesn't drive anything but the supercharger unlike the Series-I L67. it is slooowwwww haha. but yeah, they do spin even with the belt off.

i had no idea the SRT-6 used a twin screw or that IHI even made them. i thought Whipple was the only one. i would have guessed they used a CSC!

The upper blower pulley is clutch operated, much like A/C compressors. A Benz thing, lol. :p

I know that, ;) Just curious as to the reason and benefits? I would assume more MPG??

they probably use it in place of the bypass valve that other systems use

well a while back they used that SC with turbo on some 4cly so the SC ran to the point where the turbo spooled then kicked off. I bet they use it for launch control on the SRT6 cut power till a certain speed then whine shift whine... just guessing never been in one.
