Picked up a short block for a 2.2 crank, casting date of 89, non BS oil pan and flat top pistons? What the hell had flat tops? I am assuming Omni as its an N/A engine, no turbo drainback.

2.2L N/A Omni or other... What was a base model Daytona or Spirit engine option?
LOL, checked Dave's KC article and only turbo VINs :D

how much compresion with flat tops and swirl head not milled? i had a 2.2, flat tops and milled the head like 40 thou, had to back off the timing a bit on pump gas, and ran a wet 50 shot with race gas, but it moved pretty decent in the omni without the NO2.

Considering turbo engines are around 140-150 and 8:1, TBI's are almost flat top, small dish and 9.0:1 and I would guess 170-180 cranking, that would make flat tops 200 psi or more, :wow1:

i was WAY over that then, it was fun while it lasted. i was 17, street racing all the time, till i raced a crx around a corner onto the freeway, lost oil pressure, and that was all she wrote. 10 years later and i barley leard to take it easy around corners, time for some baffles.
