Anyone tried it?

Basically, using a (sorry) GM electric air pump run off of a hobbs switch. When in vaccum, your PCV system works normally. Under boost, the electric pump kicks in a pulls a vacuum on your crankcase.

Thoughts?

My ex-bossed used one on his race car, could actually see a vac. while the engine was running

I have an old Daytona boost gauge on my dash connected to the dip stick tube. It's always in a vacuum. I like it. The real test will be pulling the mountains going to Flagstaff to see how the evac pump works after continuous use. If you have any questions about fabing it up just P.M. me.

EDIT: I forgot to mention, I bought my smoke machine and my pump was leaking like a sieve. I resealed it with RTV and held it together with an over sized hose clamp. You can see it in this picture.

That is a pretty cool idea, but in my opinion, a properly setup exhaust evac should be good enough, as too much vacuum is detrimental, unless you want to really do it right and go full tilt dry sump.

Are you pulling a straight vacuum on a closed system or is there a fresh air inlet?

The system is closed. The check valve leaks a little/moderates the vacuum but pulls fresh air through the air box through the breather filter.

Ok, so you're relying on a controlled leak, or even a restricted flow (if you got rid of the check valve and just added a restriction) to allow for air flow.

The engine pulls the crankcase down to 10" HG when my intake vacuum is at 19"-20" HG. Then it varies depending on what the load on the engine is. It starts to drop as soon as I start the engine. After I turn the engine off can hear it bleeding out. I haven't timed it. The evac pump pulls only about 3" HG.
