i was just wondering if a non-common block oil pan housing and oil pan will work on a 89 common block. also will the timing cover work too

The cb oil pan is an inch longer end to end.

its were the oil pan "U" shape goes. also holds the rear and front main seals. I was wondering if you can swap it over to a common block

and isnt the one of the oil seals a different shape? like ones a u shape and the other is more of a semi circle?
and i thought they were welded on?
id sooner just get another oil pan for like 15 bucks

The pans are not interchangeable without way more work than it would be worth to make it compatible.

You can use a non CB oil pan if you use the non CB crank and matching front end seal retainer.

You would then need to change to a square tooth pulley setup though correct?

That is correct unless you have a adapter made, like I had done, :clap:
