Any timeline on when the next Upfront magazine is coming out? The last one I have is issue 116. Hopefully that is the last one that was published.

If I don't get a steady diet of Upfront, I begin to go through withdrawals, and get the shakes. :rockon:

While things are progressing, it will be impossible to get it to the printer in time for mailing by next week, and many folks that work there will be off until after the first of the year. So I can see now it will not happen before the holidays, so it should be just after the first of the year.

To do 9-10 pages with color (this issue had 9 pages) works out to be more than double the cost of printing a b&w issue. The next issue is likely to not have as much color as I have some reference material and a long article with only a few pics. I also need to do some SDAC 'housekeeping' in the next issue which will be all text, so it will only have 4-5 pages with color (as I expect right now).

Issue 118 of Up Front was mailed this afternoon. It includes the SDAC-19 Pre-Registration form.

There is not any color in this issue except for the cover. Turns out it is all text. So there is plenty to read while sitting on the potty. :D

I hope to have the SDAC website updated by the middle of this week so we can accept online registrations and payments.

After only a week's delay, I got my copy in the mail today. So most members should get their copy in the next few days.

I took the data back to the printer this morning so another 400 copies could be printed (and then mailed again). Fortunately I was able to cancel that order this afternoon after I got my copy.

Since I mailed the 2nd copies to 8 of you this morning, now you'll have a copy for the crapper AND the garage. :lol:

No worries.

It's been about 9 years since we got the permit imprint so we can mail bulk First Class. This is the 1st time it has really been screwed up. It's been a day or two late before, but never like this.

Better than 90% of what goes through the bulk system is 3rd class or standard mail. That mail has a 3 week delivery time span. So it is easy to see how someone in the mail processing center mistook our mailing for a 3rd class mailing and let it just sit in a corner.

The standard way of identifying a tray of mail is with a label on one end of the tray that denotes the contents (standard, first class, 3rd class, etc).

When I was talking to the guy I deal with at the PO a couple weeks ago he said he would make sure in the future to put notices all over the trays that it is a first class mailing. He apologized to me about a half dozen times even though he did nothing wrong. He sent them out the same day I took them to him. "At $.59 cents each to mail there simply is no excuse" he said.

Opened it up and there was my VNT LeBaron on the front page.

the car show and meet some of you folks. Probably arrive that morning since I'm only about 2
hours away.

I didn't get to meet everybody I wanted to at SDAC-15

No John, We are also in the process of getting our house back in order.

It has been undergoing a lot of drywall and ceiling work. Now we are getting
ready to have it painted. Just a lot of stuff on the plate this past
year and this year. Hope to be back to normal (if there is a normal) in
a couple of months.

Issue 120 of Up Front was mailed this afternoon. It features full coverage of SDAC-19 including about 50 color pics spread over 9 pages.

The newsletter count did come up short by 3 names, so 3 people will not get theirs but I don't have any idea who it is. So in a week if you have not received your copy, let me know and I will get another in the mail to you.

I think your renewal was one of them that I picked up at the PO box this morning. Your renewal packet including this latest newsletter will be in the mail tomorrow morning.

We've been doing the the renewal letter/form in that manner for a few years now. It has raised our percentage of those that renew to about 60% of those that get letters.

Got my TC Club of America newsletter yesterday, still no SDAC though:o Brand new 000038 mile 89 16V 5spd TC for sale, Royal Cabernet/Bordeaux for $24,000. anyone in:eyebrows:? Fine investement that was, I mean the guy paid $30-$35 held onto it 20 years and is now only losing $10K or so:p

Am I still on the list to get one? I don't remember getting one recently. :(While your membership expiration date has passed by a couple months Jon, you should get this one and at least one more on your term. Everyone's membership had been extended some because of the tardiness of the newsletters.

For example, the renewal letters sent out just after this newsletter mailing was for those members whose memberships had expired in April, May, & June of 2009. And this was the last newsletter for those whose memberships expired in July or August of this year.

This issue has SDAC-20 hotel and registration information inside.

Issue 123 of Up Front was mailed this afternoon.

It is just about all SDAC-20 info, how to get to the host hotel and some other events (for those that attend just for those events/days)

Not much else though. Sorry, no articles sent in means no articles printed. We did get one article submitted from our request in the last issue, but it was a little too long to include in this one, so I shortened the newsletter from 14 pages to 12.

Any and all. We run a lot of general interest such as "this is my car, this is how I got it, etc", we run some competition stories (only from track, not street), and we have tech articles which are fewer in number as they are contributed less frequently.

In the spring & summer our annual event pretty much dominates the issues then, but in the fall & winter is when most of the contributed articles see print.

Right now it doesn't look good for an issue the first week of December. Even though I asked for articles in the last issue, I've received only one so far and it is about PT Cruisers.

If you want newsletters folks, send in some articles.

And for those that would ask, "What kind of articles do you need?"

All kinds. Tech, general interest, long articles, short articles.

Doesn't need to be fancy or done in Word, just plain text, emailed to me, pics are a plus.

Well the latest issue of Up Front went out in the mail last Wednesday and it looks like most folks have received theirs by now.

I did get a new member named Drew G that sent his dues but I never got his mailing address. I've sent a few emails to him but no response. Other than his email (the one he used for PayPal) I have no way of contacting him. So Drew, if you are on here, please send me a PM.

Issue 127 was mailed this afternoon. This issue has maps & directions to the SDAC-21 host hotel, car show, and Great Lakes Dragaway. Of course full directions and event itinerary will be in the goody bags. There are also a couple articles in it.

Just a note about a correction needed for that issue.

The maps for the car show location are the wrong maps. I reused the maps I had for SDAC-14, but either I had them wrong then and never caught it or the location has changed since then. The written directions are correct. I also used those same maps for the directions posted on the SDAC website.

I just updated the website with the correct car show maps.
