Tomorrow we're going racing at Dragway 42. A bunch of sh*t talking is going down here at home. 2006 Hemi Charger R/T vs. my Spirit ES.

Spirit:
TII FMIC
TII Garrett
MBC 16psi
12* base timing
Taylor Ignition
3" ram air intake mandrel bent
Open downpipe
Huge ported exhaust manifold
Brand new torque converter
RMVB set to 125psi line pressure
Stock fuel on a stock 2.5 bottom end
All with SLICKS :eyebrows:

Charger:
K&N cold air intake

...but the fat lady has 330hp... Im guessing Im around 230hp.

Place your wages and bets!

EXCUSE ME---that is 340 hp plus the CAI from K & N, so figure 360 flywheel hp.
Silver Spirit is going down !!!!!!!!!!!!

Who said you can use use the slicks ? You better turn the boost down before you have a melted motor and then you start walking.

Oh Im sorry, since when has a crappy cold air intake added 20WHP? Your intake was 3.5" to begin with and had nice cool air coming already.

Slicks go to me as you have an unfair advantage of having a RWD car vs a FWD car.

On top of that, my plugs don't lie, it likes 16psi. :thumb:

And yes, this is me whining like a rice boy just to talk sh*t.

I had a 2005 charger r/t to take home last week. By the sounds of your mods to the spirit. My vote has to go with the charger.

Get some fuel mods, and you may have the advantage.

Well the son has removed his pass front seat, both back seats (top & bottom), 3 floor mats, and switched the front tires to BFG Drag Radials. All said and done he took off 67 pounds.

I am going to race the HEMI car just like I drive it on the street with the exception of putting ice on the intake manifold and playing with tire pressures.

HE WILL NEVER LEARN, old age always will overcome youth and enthusiasm..

That is too funny. I remember some of my friends essentially stripping thieir cars at the track to try and drop time. There was one heck of a pile of parts in the ground at the end of the day.

I have to go for the charger, although I think the spirit will have a respectable loss.

Spirit doesn't have a chance....
Maybe push it up to 18psi to make it look better than gettin' spanked. :)
There is a reason Fleckster calls his Spirit the "Couch"

Yah '92 R/T's were fat ladies... 3,200+. Like racing with the weight of a mini van. :D

If I lose it will be a damn close race.

By the way I opted for the drag radials instead of slicks because the track's water box is RWD only, they only spray us FWD guys a little bit. I don't want to tear up my new tranny. Other than that she's all ready to go, boost is turned up as well as is the cut out point.

We'll post about it tomorrow.

WE are back from the Drag Strip. There was around 50 race cars and 120 strret cars there. Bryan & I made 6 time trails each, with us facing each other only once. Here are our BEST NUMBERS of the day !!!!!!!!!!

-------89 Spirit ES

2.1487
5.9556
9.1889
76.81
11.9529
14.3582
95.36

----------2006 Charger R/T (HEMI)

2.0579
5.8809
9.0310
78.13
11.7049
14.0020
100.22

We had a great time, there were many neat vehicles there. The one that stood out the most was a Silver Olds 442 (1987 ?) It had a 355 CI Chevy that was supercharged with a vortex and it had a liquid intercooler on drag radials. I saw it go 1.5316 (60 foot) with a 9.8857 @ 145.98 STREET CAR.

2.1621
6.0751
9.2590
76.37

When I race the Charger I turn off the ESP, but it really does not go off all the way. It will step in and take over if you push to hard.

Hahahaaha, I knew it. Considering the power of the Hemi, I would have figured it would have gone alot faster.

Couple of things to think about, this was the opening day and the track is cold, the pits are still wet, no rubber down on the track AND this is the first RWD Vehicle that I have raced since 2002 which was my 2001 Mustang GT Convertible 4.6, 5-speed manual.

I honestly believe that the best the HEMI car will do is a 13.88 @ 101.50 once I get the handle on how to launch it. But it was fun to say the least.

You are 100% correct, but the part which is made by GWM is $200.00. I am not sure if I want to spend that money to melt my tires even quicker (lol).

I also seem to remember you can bypass it by holding the gas pedal down in sequence or something?

Hw has a great time, trust me. His car went .50 quicker on opening day this year than he did last year. He is still blowing the drag radials away when he goes above 2250 rpm launch. He has to learn the shoulder roll technique. I guess I will have him ride shotgun with me on the next outing.

He is in school full time from 7:15am to 2.:15 pm then he goes to work from 3:00pm to 6:00 pm.

I am sure he will surface soon !!!

This is the only time I can get on anymore. Cars, friends, girlfriend, work, and school are too much.

Anyways, I think if I can muster a 1.9 s/t I can have his arse. I gained 1.2 mph in the 1/4 just by turning the boost up 1 more psi. I had a much worse 60' between those two (2.1 vs 2.2).

We're going racing again Saturday, this time I'll have the passenger front seat back in, and slicks. Hello 13's!

The Charger may have won this time, but his a$$ is grass now.

I hate to bust your chops, but passeners are NOT allowed at QCR in vehicles that go 13.99 or quicker...............

So if you want to hit that number your g/f will just have to watch from the sidelines.

Just wanted you to know...

DAD

ps-relax on Friday and maybe you can get a better reaction time & 60 footer. CONCENTRATE and practice your shoulder roll. If you need help just ask me.

Your 1/4 mile time in the Spirit is quicker than my Spirit R/T (14.358 vs 14.679) but your mph is a tick lower (95.36 vs 96.12). With you running an auto, that's great to have the mph right there with my A-568! My best 60' is 2.35 but I've only used my street tires which are 225/50-16 Kumho Supra 712s at 30psi because I was too lazy to drop the pressure. Yes, my Spirit has the unofficial nickname "The Comfy Couch" and weighs in at 3120 without me in it. The nickname may change as the Eibach springs and Konis are about to be installed so it may soon be a bit firmer "Couch."

Congrats to both of you! Those are some pretty good times for each vehicle!

P.S. - If you used the traction control on the Charger, it would have slowed down. It uses the brakes and cuts power from the engine to gain traction.

It was an overall fun day, busy but fun. Nice to watch the rivalry between the Spirit and the Hemi.
