Those are the oil galley. Basically the internal distribution of oil in the engine. Usually they have freeze plugs in but the set screws make it more reliable.

Yep, they are for the main oil galley and I had my machinist swap to those due to leaking issues with the frost plug type. I had one leak and it took me forever to figure out where it was coming from, :banghead:

I had one leak on a new rebuild and took forever to find. I thought it was the rear main seal at first.

I thought about the set screws but was getting pressed for time. What size did you end up using Simon?

If you leave the plugs loose, it will keep the car from rusting out.

Not sure honestly, I think they are from a small block chevy, the cam plugs. I can find out, :thumb:

Most hardware stores have a selection of set screws though they would need to be a pretty big diameter. No hurry, just getting ideas together for the next build. Thanks.

3/8" NPT plugs. I use them all the time also in the head on all 8V's.
Summit or jegs has them cheap. Aluminum versions also for the cylinder head.

NO set screws
NPT pipe threads , use a teflon sealant
set screws have straight threads, won't tighten or seal
