Hi All, I am talking to someone about making subframe connectors for the Daytona. Basically my t-top car could use them, and I am sure others with t-top cars know what I mean. They guy who I am talking to engineered and sells them for the Taurus SHO. I have them on my 89 SHO and it made the car very stiff.
If anyone is interested send me a message.

Also, I think that the G-body ones could/should work on J and H too?

I can talk to him about it, i know most of our eeks are very similar underneath. He'd probably need to be able to look at the floorpans of a few different bodies. Anyone in socal with a P, J, H that want's to help out on this?

I wouldn't mind a set for an AA either. I wonder what all would be different between the different body styles? I'm guessing length mostly. If that's all it is, then maybe he could make a 2-piece "universal" set that just needs cut to the proper length and welded together during installation.
Just an idea...

HI All, I posted a update in the chassis forum about my Meeting with Matt about the subframe connectors, there are pics and feed back would be great.

Update. To do these in bulk meaning at least 25 people want these for the G-body, the price would be $100 a set. If only one or two people want them more like $330. Let me know if you want these, as I am wanting a s et for my car either way.

I know alot of folks want these for other bodies, but lets start with the g-body folks first!

Hi my name is Matt and I am helping with this.

I would like to be able to help you guys out with this in providing the products but we will need more interest. This could be considered a "basic" kit and from there you can add on if you wish. I am sure this will really stiffen up the car like it does for the SHO. If we can get some more people we can make a go of this.

Is this a subframe connector from under the car or one that mounts above the carpet right in front of the back bottom seat? I can see applications for both of them. Not sure which would be better.

Welded under the car, Matt has pics of the stuff for the SHO, on SHOSOURCE if you want to see what they look like, ours should be similar materials and quality, but designed around our cars.

I have already taken measurements and they will look very similar to the SHO SFC which look like:

http://www.shoforum.com/images/sfc/sfc_onlyconnectors.jpg

They will be installed similar to this:

They will be welded to the underside of the car.

Just out of curiosity....why not slide the subframe connector up inside of the factory unibody rail and weld to the rear jack pad?...again just curious

Can you show a similiar pic without the strengthener bar. I cannot remember what it looks like and as we all know, you can't see anything under a G body without putting it on ramps or jacking it up. (at least 1st gens with the side skirts)

I actually have to ride the front up on a 2x4 ramp just to get my jack under it!

It would require more work and it would be hard to weld.

I am not sure what you are talking about. The bar show is being used to hold the SFC in place before weld. Do you need a pic without it?

If the component/brace is not already welded in place... please take a pic in the same angle without the brace being held up...
(Sorry for any confusion!)

HI, Matt (loudsho) and I have been trying to make this happen. I need at least 4-5 more people to do a group buy and make the cost reasonable. As of now, it's on hold because not enough people are commited to it.

bris09

I am still interested and will get a set as long as we can get enough people to keep the price under $200. I've spent so much on the engine that my budget is starting to get tight as I still have to get the car painted.

Lets get a list going of who is interested. Once we have enough (at least 10) we can make a go of this. The more people we have the cheaper they will be.

These will need to be welded in.

Estimated price with 10 orders: $120

They will fit the follwoing body:
84-93 Dodge Daytona Shelby
84-86 Chrysler Lazer

Interested in Subframe Connectors:

3. 86turboz

there is another way to stiffen up a G or J body
you'll need to find an 87-9 le baron rag top for the purpose of hacking the center tunnel out of it

these cars had an extra center tunnel that ran from the firewall to the back seat riser and then continued on under the rear seat to attach to the floor above each rear frame rail

this is why when you open the door of a J body rag in the wreckers that's been put on top of another car , the le baron dosen't split in half like an old rotted K car rag top

the carpet and center console are different in these cars because of this extra tunnel reinforcement and you'll definately need the carpet and console parts to finish the car right
bonus is you get a wider armrest on the console

They also have a double floor in the front. AFAIK this only applies to '87-'89 J-bodies. I believe after that most of the reinforcement got moved out to the rockers like the TC's.
