I have a COMPLETELY stock '89 5spd daytona t2 2.2 and im just wondering what the stock 1/4 times were when these cars were new... this car has no power options and no AC... What times should i expect with an exhaust cut-out and graingered to 16psi and 23' MH SLICKS....

Got a couple of old magazines here with a road test on an '87 and '88 T2.

'89's are probably close.

July 1987 issue of Mopar performance has the 1987 Shelby Z running
a 14.90 at 96 mph

July 1988 issue of Hot Rod has the 1988 Shelby Z running
a 15.20 at 92 mph

In my opinion high 14's are very good times for a "stock" car.
I used to race my 340 Duster back in 1971 and my times were in the mid
14's, and this was with an automatic and power braking.

Cool thanks for the times:eyebrows: I should be about 14.70 with slicks and a cutout...

There was no 89' Shelby Daytona.

There is a 89 Daytona Shelby.

When you say Shebly Daytona, it means this car.

see a lot of Dodge Shelby Tona's on those pages :) I think we all know what car he has. With the setup/mods you should be low 14's high 13's.

You should be able to get deep into the 13s if everything is working right.

Like Tony Fields said.. 14.9-15.2 is good for stock. Naturally like any TD they have pretty bad traction problems. I have no doubt they would run mid 14's just by bolting on slicks.

i went 14.7 at 96 on poop tires with a 3" exhaust at 20 psi. this was in a 88z only the second time at the track
