Does anyone know off hand if an 8.8 from an '88 Thunderbird is the correct width for a Fox Mustang, or is it a bit wider?

Should be the same, but I don't think the tbird got the 8.8 from the factory. I think its the smaller rear end.

I believe the V8 and turbo cars are 8.8". The 3.8 cars may or may not.

The 'bird is a turbo car with discs and posi, I know that much. The Mustang (which is a Capri actually) is a '79 RS with the 2.8, and I know for sure it's got the smaller weaker rear.

Cool. I always liked the Capris. Friend of my uncle had one back in the mid 80's. My brother in law had a 2.8 79 Stang that had the 7.5 in it, too.
