Okay looking at some serious aids to my traction this year, will some 235/60/15s fit on the front of my daytona? I've already switched to front coil overs so not worried about hitting the spring perch, but will they rub the strut? I think with the mopar long wheel studs and a spacer I should clear... what do you guys think? Or should I just spring for the extra cash and buy a set of 225/50/15s?

Well tire diameter would roughly be 26". I would imagine that will rub the fendor if you are sitting kind of low. Some of the guys have more experience with drag radials.... just letting you know it is 26". ;)

I'd be more afraid of rubbing on the spring perches with that tall of a tire.

I have coilovers so I'm not worried about the spring perch ;)

I ran 225-50-16s for awhile, with minor interference at ,(9 o'clock lft)plastic trans cover, (4 o'clock lft/8o'clock rt)frame rail ahead of crossmember mount. They just barely cleared the springperch cone on both struts. In the rear interference was at the inner fender(2 o;clock rt/10 o'clock lft)and the shock absorber , under load(200lb passenger in backseat).:(
The rear was controled fairly well with the addition of air shocks.Up front the scrapes only came at low speed ,parking ,or lock to lock manuevring.
The more alarming consequence was Hydroplaning:banaride: .A moderate rainfall turned the car into a whitewater raft.

I guess the D/Rs are slightly wider than normal 225/50/15s but I ran those and no rubbing, so I guess what I will do is try and get some spacers

I personally drove around with 26x7'' Mickey Thompson Sportsman tires on the front of my 89 Daytona. The tires would rub under tight cornering, but otherwise they weren't a problem. This was with the bottom coil of each spring removed as well (about 1.5'' ride height reduction).

The M/T or M&H 235/60/15 DR's are insane. A friend of ours 363 whp Hatchback Honda will hook FIRST GEAR from a roll on, this is a 2.0 with a GT30R DBB on it, so instant boost at 3800 rpms and it hooks it, no problem.

People are reporting 550 whp Honda's hooking 3rd with these, which is actually quite a feat.

see that's what I want... traction in first gear

Our big hit torque curve will probably make this a bit tougher, but I think it's still possible. Not only does it get the traction from the tire compound, but from the gearing as well. Both tires measure in at 26.1 inches. In my opinion, they look absolutely attrocious on a car. But that's just me. I'll run aired down BFG's any day to get away from having a balloon on my front wheels and the front end jacked up and over the tires, with no front bumper on to clear it. :p It won't be that bad for your platforms I don't think, but on an L it would be a nightmare.

yeah well when I can hook up and go and you'll sit and spin I'd be happy with my big balloons
