I have the neon auto trans. Since the 413 is already a turbo trans couldnt I just use that and be ahead of the game, especially on a setup that not super high HP? I know that there would be the one bolt not lining up issue. Wouldnt I be ahead of the game if I could just use a TM trans and not have to worry about linkage? i would imagine that the 413 might be a little stronger right out of the box than the neon trans?

Actually the Neon trans internals are among the strongest that have every been available from the factory in the 3 speed FWD trans.

Your best bet is to get a Turbo trans, rob it of the input shaft and case, and use the rest of the internals from the Neon trans.

I would just get a TD case, much easier. Upgrade the planetaries, the Neon ones are junk.

Not always. I have found some 5-planet setups in neon trannies.

Ok, 90% of the time and its not the amount of pinions, its the material. We got steel, they got what looks like a cast/sintered housing. I've had 4 Neon trannies apart and all were the weaker planetaries.

But who here has broke the neon 5 gear planetaries? I asked before and never heard a peep, so? I know it says that on Carls site.

I've had 2 trannies let go due to the planetaries on stock Neons, ;)

And my only planetary failure was an earlier style 3-planet type. So which one is better?
