hey guys,

ive been doin alot of work on the daytona and it should be done by the end of next week or so. since were going to start the engine up still on jackstands i was wondering if i should give the engine a little break in milage before i push it.

heres the current items on the car that were either added, or changed.

1. 2.5" downpipe, no cat, flowtech glasspack, and 90degree bend out the side
2. replaced 2 1/4" swingvalve with 2 1/2"
3. changed air inlet position from 90 degrees to flat.
4. new intake manifold with 52mm throttle body, t2 injecorts and fpr.
5. new exhaust manifold drilled and tapped with a egt probe.
6. volvo 740 intercooler with 2.5" piping from racingsolutions.com
7. new headgasket and intake/exhaust gasket
8. new rear main seal.
9. new clutch and resurfaced flywheel
10. 3" intake pipe and new filter
11. synthetic motor oil
12. new shocks/struts
13. new pads and rotors for front/back.
14. new t2 shelby computer
15. new o2 sensor

last time i replaced the head gasket i gave it about 30 miles untill i opened it up, but at the time the clutch was slipping uber bad, and the rear brakes were still locked on.

im guessing i should wait a little longer this time so i can allow the ecu to adjust? i dont know?

feedback please! :)

the HG needs absolutley zero break in time, there's nothing to "break in".

But I'd take it easy on the clutch for a while

Yep, with the clutch, and then drive it like you stole it. :thumb:

I was wondering that too, what's breakin on a clutch?

I think its around 2-300 miles. Basically, it needs to go thru heat cycles, like when you install new brake pads. If you beat on it straight away-drag racing, slipping etc, you glaze and burn up the lining so it won't last very long and loses its grip.

Gotcha. So basically just be nice to it for the first 300 miles in normal traffic? Will it still heat cycle with mostly highway driving?

well, it depends, is it a combined driving of city/highway because thats what i found to be the best for breaking a new clutch in.

so roughly a tank of gas, babying the car should be good for breakin the clutch in.

sounds like ive got a day of driving :) but thats fine with me!
