My dad is looking at a buying a turbo rampage, and the guy has a set of 86 glhs wheels that are in good shape that he will let go with it for a little bit more $$$. He is curious to what there value is because he isn't sure if that's what he wants to put on it. If he buys them and decides not to use them, he wants to be able to get his $$ back out of them. Any idea on the value? He also has a pair of 87 glhs wheels, that will go with them too, whats a pair of them going for?

thanks
Dustin

86 GLHS wheels are pretty rare as they were only used on the 86 S. The 87 wheels were used on the GLHS and the CSX, so not as rare.

I would put the 86 GLHS wheels at $500 -> 600 a set if they were in good shape, and the 87s at $300 -> 400 a set. Just my opinion though.

even a really effed up 86 wheel can be restored professionally to perfection for $125-$150 per wheel, so unless the wheel is near perfect i'd agree with Clay around $125 per wheel give or take 20 bucks for the 86's seems like a good estimate. the best path is to "steal" really bad condition wheels for say 50 bucks a wheel then send them out for resto since the resto cost would be the same.

I paid $500 for 5 87 centurion IIs. They were pretty rough looking, but it was mostly clearcoat issues. I'd say the 86 centurions are more desireable since they actually have the word Shelby cast into them.

I would agree with these estimates. You would really have to get a steal to pay only $50 a wheel for 86 wheels. Bottom line is you still have plenty of cash tied up after restoring a set of 86 wheels. I don't think many buyers would be willing to spend a grand (plus shipping) purchasing a set of 86 wheels unless someone really needed them for their mint GLHS. So in other words, buying them for $500 and putting another $500 into them and selling them for $1000 and you would break even. My point, why bother unless your a parts whore?:p

Yeah, but you made some money back on one of them. ;)

Very true. I just wish the guy that sold them to me would have given me the VIN from the car so I could have entered it on the shelby registry as parted out.
