Went out of town to DC on wed and rented the vehicle listed above. On the way back, I tried a little experiment. Once I got up to speed(70 mph) on Int 76, I reset the MPG computer to see what it would get on a relatively flat stretch with the cruise set. I saw just over 26 mpg and could see 26.5 on a perfectly flat stretch of highway.
I slowed down to 60 and saw over 27 MPG. These trials were for 15-25 miles each with the cruise on. Not bad for a 3.8 6 speed auto Caravan with 2 people and the back over half full of stuff(roughly 900lbs of people and stuff).
Just thought it was pretty good to get that kind of mileage.
Long term mileage was over 23.5 mpg which included city driving around DC on a total of roughly 550 miles. :thumb:

Yup, those '08s have a better Cd than I think all of the cars we know and love, better Cd than the Caliber even. I even think the CdA is better than some of the cars since it's about .33 x 2sqm = 0.66 rather than about .45 x 1.5sqm = 0.675

I was happy to see those kind of numbers. The 6 speed is nice in the mountains. No big down shifts.

The 4.0 motor is rumored to have the same kind of "magic" as the Buick 3.8/3800 at highway speeds and get better than the 3.3 and 3.8 when driven with a light foot.

Yeah, Dodge bumped the estimates from 16/23 to 17/25 for 2009.

thats great mileage for a biggish motor in a minivan. i had a 96 3.0/670 grand caravan that could get over 25 on the highway but with my moms 97 3.3/604 we've never gotten much over 20, highway or otherwise.

wish they would sell the 6 speed with the 3.3.. you have to drop almost 4k$ more over the base model to get the sweet new tranny :(
