Hey,

This question is for anybody who does bodywork on Daytonas. When I picked mine up the panel that hold the radiator and the hood lock was bent from the previous owner pulling it out a mud hole.

Is this panel just bolted on or is it welded to the side panels??

The part number shows "4270 927 PANEL, Fascia, H/L Mounting" but doesn't say welded or bolt on.

The answer will drive the way I fix this. I do have a spare 85 Daytona with includes a new lower engine mount so if it is bolted on, I can replace it myself. If it is welded, how much do you think it will cost to fix??

The photos below show the damage. Like I said, I have a lower engine mount so I not worried about it. But where it attaches to is bent out and on the top side, it's bent so the hood won't close.

Bottom of the panel is pulled out and up.

Top of panel is kinked so the hood won't close.

It's all spot welds up there. I can't see the pics either, but depending on the damage, a good body guy might be able to pull everything straight. Otherwise I'd just find a donor car of the same year, get the fenders off, and sawzall the entire front end off the car. It will take a lot of drilling to get the spot welds apart for the panels you need, but once you have the good panels next to the car it should be pretty straightforward what needs done.

Huh,

I can see them. I guess I can't cut and paste photos from that "other site"?? Anybody know how to upload them off my thumbdrive??
