Depends on what RPM's you can turn. Anywhere from 110-120 most likely.

Would depend on your gearing, might theoretically top out at 130 at 6000 RPM in third, but you'd typically be drag limited to 110-115

my Spirit would only do ~108 MPH stockish, I dont remember if that was with the muffler cut off and the boost turned up to 14psi or not. My 3.0 spirit would go to the governor at ~120mph

minivan, garret t2, 17-18psi, FMIC , 3" exhaust, and a few other lil things, and it weighs 3000lbs with me in it. reason i ask was i had it on the hwy and was running with my buddy that has a newer civic si, they got good top end though , but i was on him rite at 80-85mph then i passed him. we didnt have enough chance to really open them up but he said he wasnt paying attn to his speedo to give me a idea but at 85 i had pretty good acceleration still and passed him and he couldnt catch up for another 1/2 mile or so, so was just curious since i have no clue after 85mph ,lol!

3000 lbs with you in it in a mini? My shadow weighs 3K race weight, is your van completely gutted???
What size tires do you have? Thats a large factor in top speed as well.

i've had my TBI spirit up beyond the 120 mark......or so the speedo claimed

according to Frank's gearing calculator, a 3 speed should be able to take you up to 146 mph at 6000RPM. but i dont think it takes into effect TC slip

With what size tires? I figured on 205/60/15's and got 132 MPH at 6000 RPM, with no torque converter slip in there either. Thats why I said ~110-120 MPH, also because the wind resistance in a van is pretty crazy.

yeah it weighed 2820 with halftank of gas and ive taken a good additional 20lbs outta it since, but yeah its as gutted as can be pretty much, i still have the front interior and dash, no radio , van was all manual to begin with so no power stuff in the doors or anything... i can rip the front out and put plexi windows in for even less weight :D and its got little 14" steelies, mite throw my srt4 17's on it though

Nice. Well, good to see you can get a van sub 3000 pounds. :thumb:

yeah i think about 2400 is as low as they can get, someone posted a response a lil while back about weight reduction on the mini and he said his was 2400lb completely gutted with no dash and plexi windows

Do you have any pictures of your Mini ?

I would like to see what you did to the interior and to the motor.

Thanks

i just cleaned up my photobucket and deleted most of them, all i got is the inside and the IC, but it has garret t2, turbonetics SV, adjustable high psi WG, 3" exhaust from the turbo back and it dumps out under the pass side sliding door, double stacked IC, turbo xs rfl BOV, MP stage 1 pcm, +20's, 255lph pump, adj fuel psi reg, msd coil, magnecore wires, CAI and.....i think thats it, the trans was replaced like 2yrs ago with a reman mopar one and supposedly had some work done but i dont know for sure casue the original owner did it. its got no a/c or anything but what it absolutely needs to make it run under the hood, lol! the back door is completely gutted, no wiper, motor or the metal braces anymore all was sawzawed out, just a shell basically

I know my 3.0 powered mini with full interior but not extra seats had easily hit 110 before and still pulling with the lock-converter. It could probably hit 130, but I didn't care to top it out with over 200k on it, questionable tires and wheel bearings.

Yes, I was up there and still pulling in my 3.0 a while back, was only a little over 4000 RPM... 8 people in it too :o ... what happened was that we were on our way to an event and got redirected to rescue another party with a blown radiator, so ended up packed and late, and I got to a long straight, foot felt heavy... just started whooshing by everyone and my wife glances at the speedo and I get the "Isn't that a little fast dear?", and I glance down and it's indicating 175kph... and we're still accelerating... don't even have it floored, more like half to 3/4... Kinda of amazed actually it went a ton up with so little fuss... anyhoo, it was kinda faster than I intended to be going with a full load so backed it off to something more reasonable the rest of the way.

heh with the 3 spd autos ive seen anywhere between ~90 on a stock tbi lebaron convert to 118 in a stock t1 spirit.

With your van id guess ~120. aero really makes a huge difference in the van. my aries could do ~115 with a modded tbi, but my van feels like it hits a wall of air between 90 and 100 with similar setup.

I just find it hard to believe a stock 3.0 short wheel base van would be faster than a gutted first gen with a modded turbo motor. I'm thinking this sucker ought to move on out. The lock-up version of the 413 is probably going to produce the fastest results of any trans with a turbo unless you have a lower FD just simply because I think some cars will go faster in 4th(1:1) than 5th. I liked the top end of the 525 in my CS although I really hated the gap between 4th and 5th. Tire size would play a role here I would imagine too. I've hit 115 in a tired 2.2 in an 88 CS with the mitsu not building ANY boost.

I think actually that there's some chunk of aero difference between the "premium" plastic bumper and the metal one. It's not only the area of the bumper affected either, I think, that above 55ish the air starts flowing upward over the grille more with the plastic bumper. This makes for a lot less drag but also has overheating risk and in hot weather a plastic bumpered van has to be running it's rad fan at highway speeds because there's no air coming in the grille, bizarre as that may seem.

yeah mine is the metal bumpers, although there painted black, my speedo pegs out at like the 6o'clock position, 85mph being like the 4o'clock positon so im guessing the speedo needle moves to prolly 95mph or so, i can have that thing pegged and just gaining speed fast but id say it starts running out of gear at 120ish im thinking

well if extremely inaccurate guesstimations have any place here than according to the sticker on glhs's if you get all the way back around to 5mph you're going like 137 mph. :p

also ive never seen a stock 3.0 or 3.3 NOT be able to go 120. i've owned a few.

that would be nice to just keep going around, lol! it stops completely though halfway beetween 85-5mph, i have a 99 voyager with the 3.3 i dont think ive had it to 120 but it cruises nicely at 90-100

Weight reduction isnt going to help the top speed of a van sorry, it will just take a little longer to get to the point where wind resistances stops your accelleration.
Its a van. Its never going to "move out" above 100mph unless you have triple the horsepower this van has.

i bet your car can hit nearly 160 brent how far have you gone? guesstimating based on abilities and power levels of spirit r/t's and srt-4 neons here...
