how do some turbo cars do this?? tonite i herd a mitsu eclipse revving his car at a red lite and he was getting the BOV to go off, didnt seem like it was revving very high either, if i try that i would have to floor it just to get a couple psi??

You can do it with anti-lag. srt4's will get bov free reving. Ive honestly never tried in my car. Its not really to big of a concern to me.

its not a concern just curious why some can and cannot it seems, didnt know if it were a certain turbo setup that does it or a newer motor

it's called itty bitty turbo syndrome :) Small turbo spools faster. I can get my BOV's to blow out air with my S60 turbo, but you can't hear them cause they flow so much.

I can get my HKS to go off but I have to rev the crap out of er if I am at a stand still..It's Just the regular Garrett T2... Not a biggy for me to be able to do it though... Although most ricers back the frig up when they hear it..LOL

Depends on the turbo size, engine setup etc. I can't get mine to do it but a small turbo, like the stock Mitsu, no problems.

Yup, stock turbo is an eclipse in tiny. If you can get the BOV loud just revving it, your turbo is too small haha :thumb:

I could get my daytona t1 with a mitsu to do it easy. If you have a stock bov (in the air box) you might not be able to hear it.

I can get 11PSI with free revs on my Passat 1.8T. The KKK 03 sport is like the worlds tiniest turbine side:o

The size of the turbo an drestrictions, plus cam and ignition timing can affect hw much boost it makes free reving... after my crank trigger spun at the Nats I made 24psi free revving *eek*
Not sure if more boost free revving would make a car launch any better.... 5000k rpm and slicks will tho, even if you're at 0psi free revving! :D

my car falls on its face at 5K and slicks, unless i ride the clutch outta the hole
I have a GT30R and when im stagin the rev limiter is set for 5K (too low) and im able to build 5psi boost
but ya as for the free revving thing....I can get my BOV to go off in "N" just need to rev it up to at least 4K! my turbo is far from tiny :thumb:

so why dont you fix the 2 step?
Honestly there is no reason to even use the clutch when you have slicks.

Try 5500 or 6000 ;)

A restrictive exhaust helps (helps, ha ha) with Blow off at idle right? Just put some banana's in your tail pipe. Whoosh.

My S70 gives a nice blowoff in neutral. and it doesnt even start spooling till 3k+. at idle its not spinning at all!

M. at idle its not spinning at all!
:confused2:
Sounds like your turbo is in "good" shape.

Are you running a 2.2 or 2.5L? Are you running a .63 or a .48 turbine?
Typically a 2.5L can get a BOV to go in neutral much easier than a 2.2, especially if you got a .48 turbine on there.

i can build more than 10psi in N with a GT30R :)

Yeah well ball bearing kinda makes a ''small'' difference, LOL.

Its the 2.5 with a .48 housing.. The odd part was that it was blowing off when the vacc line to the bov wasnt even hooked up! just pure air pressure..
And the turbo is in great shape actually. No smoke, very very little shaft play.

I used to get my 2.5 to blow off the s60 at 5200rpms bouncing off the rev limiter- fwd s5 fixed that, no more low rev limit- dunno what it is now- don't have the urge to blow my motor up just yet. :D
