NAPA should be able to get them. I swapped mine with them and got a reconditioned one without even having to wait for it to get surfaced

What is wrong with your old one? Most places can grind them for $30 or so.

Funny that Advance Auto didn't have it. That's where I got mine.

If you are really in a bind, I have a spare here. It will need resurfaced, but it is in good condition.

When I was looking for one, it was about $40 from Advanced or Napa. They both either had them in stock in my area, or could get them.

Good luck finding one. :thumb:

I found mine at carquest for about $40. Call around, they're out there but special order most of the time.

Only $40 for a new flywheel? wow, it usually cost $30 to re-surface one... wonder if they are similar quality to the OEM ones?

well i sat in napa for about 1/2 an hour while some kid looked through about a million books. then finally came up and said he has an OLD number but when they typed it into the computer nothing came up? i dont know. well the thing is that it is the original flywheel. so i was thinkin while i have everything apart why not replace everything that should be replaced from wear and tear. what do you think are the best things to replace while i have the transmission out. BTW i have a 85 omni GLH T1

and advanced has a clutch for 107.00 but no flywheels. ?

good idea to repair/replace stuff... definitely replace the rear main seal 9if original) and re-seal the seal retaining housing (if it hasnt been done before) ... but the flywheel is ok to cut a few times, so it would probably be easier to just get it cut. they are like brake rotors where they have minimum thickness specs so they can usually get cut a couple times, and a shop should tell you if it is under spec.

i went to those sites and found nothing for flywheels. bolts and shims are about all i found. i guess i'll just hafta get it re-surfaced. hmm well anymore help would be great. thanks guys.

if your going to spend that much on a clutch, might as well spend a few bucks more and buy a good one from one of our vendors.

Advanced Autoparts p/n 3404 (http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductDetail.aspx?mfrcode=SFW&mfrpartnumber=3404&parttype=267&ptset=A)

Cost is 45.99 with a core charge of $30.00

What transmission do you have? Depending on the spline count of your tranny another option would be to use a flex plate from an automatic and get an SRT4 modular clutch. I think there is a thread on it somewhere.

Yep. One of my friends is getting it through CarQuest on his work account along with the clutch kit. The local machine shop we've always used told me it would be $70 to resurface my flywheel so it was cheaper to just replace it. I think the total cost for the new turbo flywheel and clutch was right around $120 IIRC. I haven't gotten a chance to head to the shop to do the work though so I haven't gotten the bill yet.

edit: I can snap a pic of it if you like.

wow... I've never paid more than $40 to resurface one... NAPA was $30 last time.

yeah, pics would be cool :thumb: I'm guessing it looks/weighs the same?

It *used* to cost $30 to have flywheels resurfaced here, but this last time it cost $65. Needless to say, it's the last time I take anything to that machine shop. JT, do you have a shop up there that doesn't rape people? I swear all prices for machine work have gone up 100% in the last couple years. It's funny how this shop's prices doubled at the same time the other local shops went out of business.

Well, I've had about a half dozen sesurfaced in teh last 2 years between the two cars, and most times it was done at the Glenview, IL NAPA for $30...

Yeah the fidanza is a little costly. Thats the only reason I didn't go that route. I got lucky and found a board member that was selling a lightened stock flywheel for just barely over what Advanced wanted for a new one. I have yet to install it, just need to order my clutch from TU.

yeah i'm buying the TII/III clutch for my omni. hopefully it runs well. i have heard nothing but great things about it. i may splurge and get the fidenza god knows i'd be happy as all hell with it. my freinds just bought SRT-4's on the same day. so now i have that to compete with around my town.. blah.. lol damn freinds always copying me. but atleast they went mopar.. that was definatly my influence! thanks for everything guys.

Barring any major incidents we should be doing the swap next week sometime at my friend's house in Oak Lawn. I'll take pics then or you're welcome to drive out and give us a hand with it and share some beer with us in the process. Shoot me a PM if you're interested and I can give you directions.

Sounds like fun. I'd love to give you a hand and share some beer and would take you up on the offer if I didnt have to part out one daytona, get another ready for sale, and then work on my cars to get them track worthy... i think my next free weekend is on 2007 :(

My weekends are usually like that too. We're shooting for a weekday project on this one though, we should be able to bust it out in a couple days I think.

I know this is a little late, but it was an OEM mopar casting. It had the pentastar on the back.

It was an 8-bolt too. I would have thought it was a 6-bolt in 87?

'87 T1 and T2 are both 8 bolt.
