That is very sweet, nice job! i am also into old school Kaws, i have a '74 Z1 900 that i ride all the time. totally redone with 1075 big bore, PM brakes, air shifter, 6" ext. alum. swingarm it is very fast and still gets great gas mileage, i rode it eveyday when gas was at it's highest. i really love the old Kaws and i had a chance to ride a friends 3 cyl. 2stroke and was very impressed with the power. i would love to have that awesome bike of yours, again nice job!

Nice job on the resto:thumb: I like how you added some paint etc to make it match your vision, painted carbs, oil cooler etc... Although I am not sure I believe that it's 'not too loud' with that 4 into 1 exhaust.;) Prolly just don't hear exhaust as much because the noise from the 4 individual K&N's have their own howl:eyebrows: the 83 was a big improvement over the 82, swoopier body work, upgraded dash etc. My 81 1100 GPZ was actually Fuel Injected! I think it was the first production bike that was. As you already know Brudda, of all the GPZ's I had, I only saved the 83 305:love: for another day...
You might consider a front fork brace, fork's were pretty spindly back then.:o Also if the front springs sag, you can make some spacers out of 3/4" schdl 40 PVC pipe. Just stack em right on top of the springs:)

This is actually the bikes 4th "incarnation". I bought it from an "Alabaman". Inside turn 6 of Daytona Motor Speedway. During intermission of the 99 superbike race. Paid $500 for the bike,3 rail/1800lb trailer and aluminum ramp!
It was a"club racer" at that time showing 21k miles.;)
I honed a set of jugs, and ported a head , ran it( pertty much like it sits) for the last 7 years. The header is really kinda quiet. thats a 2.5" Cherrybomb on a Basani collector. Sound NICE!!:D
I got a parts bike 5 yrs ago. and finally swapped the motor, and suspension . Repaint was needed cuz of fuel spillage on unresistant clear coat. :banghead:The scheme was the same ,only Blk/Wht spiderweb, and chrome striping.:number1:
Got some bugs to chase still. But I can finally give the 900 a rest.
Heres a pic of the 550 in action, at the hotel for the INDY motoGP. wit R/T at the controls doin wut he loves!!!:thumb:
I also had an '82 I roadraced back in '86 - problem was the then new 600's were coming out then and the lil' 550 was out motored bad.... :(
Mine was all stock, went 12.76 at the strip.
I really loved the bike, it was a sweet ride....
