I can tell you from experience that the Ecsta MX is a great performing tire. I had a set for a couple months on my WRX. Very nice tread pattern too.

What are the other dimensions of the wheel - offset/backspace?

I'd like to put wheels of similar size on my Daytona.

Frank

They are 17x8 with +35mm backspacing. They arrived at the house yesterday, however I wont be home until Monday.

FRANK--I have two questions for you...

#1. What do you do for work that your are gone all the time ??

#2. What are you going to do with the white pumpers that are on your Daytona
now ??

#2: I am selling them, you wanna buy?

Frank, why'd you go with the 225/45/17, I thought you were going with the 245/40/17 size instead?

I should post my pics of my new wheels too, also have a white 91' Daytona but I went the opposite way. . .Custom 5Zigen FN01R-C's 17x8, colour matched paint to Chrysler Bright White with a machined lip. I'm running BFG KDW 2 tires in the 245/40/17 size.

I was going to and I decided against it. I dont know why yet either. Dang it. I forgot all about that. The 225 should still be pretty dang wide on a 8" wheel.

225 or 255?

I've got 225's on my 7" wide wheels and love the bulge. If you put them on a 8" wide wheel, then I'd be afraid that they might look a bit skinny on them. Just an opinion.

Look yes, but the wider wheel will actually allow more of a contact patch. My DR's bulge hard off of a 6.5" wheel, and while that looks awesome, a 7" wheel would give me nearly another inch on each side of contact patch. :(

91DSX- I LOVE FN01R-C's... currently one of my favorite wheels, I'm sure it looks amazing.

Well for me it all depends on the car and the styling. These will look great on the daytona, however they wont look good on my shadow. THe shadow will get Kosei K-1 15x8 with 245/45/15 wheels. Short and fat look.

OOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

I like the way that sounds!!!!

I was toying around with the idea of ditching the 17's for a set of 16x8 with 245/45-16's on them. I know Nighttrain had them on his Tona for a while. Now, I just need to find a reasonable priced set that are 8" wide.

I wonder how much a 245/45-15 would cost?

I may have to start looking.

It probably be 2 weeks before I am ready to sell them, but as far as memory serves, they are perfect... just need some cleaning. I will do such and take high res pictures and pass them on to you when the time comes.

well if you are worried about the contact patch for straight line racing, I dont think its gonna make a difference when the tire pressure is dropped. on the twisties, then sure, its not gonna be great. I have 225/60r15 on my 6" wide wagon wheels. Bulge galor.
Thats a huge sidewall so not so great for twisties.

On my set? 17x8, +35mm offset, 5x100, and 16.9lbs

You can get all kinds of sizes and finishes except mine (was custom);) , go to http://www.5zigenusa.com/w_fn01rc.html and see them all, I'm sure you can find a set for your car no matter what style your going for:nod:

F.Y.I They are pricey but not into the forged price point area. . .

So - since we are on wheels and tires - for an L body, what is the most wheel width/offset/ widest tire that can be run with Koni coil overs?

I've run a 7" wheel with a 215/40/ZR17, at maximum lowered height with no problems.

I now run 225/50/15 BFG DR's up front, fully lowered, with no issues yet either, although I haven't driven on them, just inspected how it'll work.

What wheels are you running the 225/50/15 BFG DRs on? Brand, width, weight, offset?

Seems like many of the manufacturers/sellers web sites go out of their way to NOT say what the weights of their different wheels are.

Any opinions on best combination of cost vs weight for a forged or cast aluminum wheel?

15x6.5" Rota Slipstream's, 38 or 40 offset, 11.8 lbs each.

The Slipstreams or Kosei K1's are some of the best bang for the buck in lightweight wheels. If money is no object, Enkei RPF01's are extremely light, I believe at 9 lbs for a 15" wheel. They are also over $300 per wheel though.

Nope, and sad to say- they don't look nearly as good as the 17's did. :(

It gives it a more old school Mopar look kinda of, like an older rallye style wheel or something along those lines, but I'll deal with it for now. They're the roayl gun metal color, which is that gun metallic with a polished lip. Do I like they, yeah I like the style and the weight, but so far the color/size doesn't sit well with me. I just thought the rage's were the perfect wheel for the car, I just needed to drop to a 15 for a good drag radial.

Worst case scenario, when I go through and get the needed body work done, I'll strip the wheels and paint them all silver like the rage's were, and that should help.

If you've ever seen old school Corolla's, IE AE86, known in the drift world... the charger reminds me of that now. A lot of them use small wheels that are dark with apolished lip, and it looks very 80's. Not a bad thing, just different from what I've been used to.

YOU sir Kevin- still need to throw pics up of your car with my old wheels. I bet it looks absoultely amazing.

First of all, don't call me sir. :p I feel old enough as it is.

I left my darn camera at home about halfway to my parents' house (85 miles away) where the car is stored. I'll be going to their house Thursday to get a couple parts I've sold, so I might snap a couple pictures then.

Honestly, the wheels looked better on your car than they do on my car.
The car looks pretty darn good with the wheels, but not near as good as it does with my Bogarts. The Bogarts are the only wheels that EVERYBODY loves on my car. I only wish they would make street ready versions. :(

I hear ya' on the Bogarts. I debated trying out some Welds for a long time, but decided otherwise when the Rota's are only 2-3 punds heavier.

I'll have to wait and see how the wheels look, I can't see how they could look better on my 5 footer paint that your show paint :)

I still think yours would look awesome if you painted the spokes black and leave the lip silver. That would be sweet, it's what I was thinking of doing if I kept them on my car.

I think it has to do more with the color. For some reason, those wheels look better on a black car than they do a silver car.

I'm thinking about stripping the paint off of them and polishing them up to a chrome like finish.
