Best Memory to date is the Big Wheel on the hill!

Oh, and perhaps running over Ken's kids face with my T-Maxx.

No, no, no...It was Fleck's chair busting in front of 20 drunken people. Man, I still laugh at that mental picture!!

At SDAC 4, we had the tech session after the car show under the IMS grandstands. I had an aluminum folding chair collapse while I forgot and tried to lean back in it. Very embarrassed sitting on the pavement with a chair wrapped around my backside. Later that day, the same thing happened at the host hotel to Ed Peters. Now I didn't feel so bad, misery loves company as they say. Since then I've always brought sturdier chairs for myself.

My first SDAC was #3 in Detroit (it is what got me to join the club) and I haven't missed any since, including SDAC-9 where there were only about 20 or so of us.

#12 in Memphis was my first. I still remember it fondly I guess because it was the first time I got to see some of my internet friends face to face.
#13 in Maryland was my second. I didn't enjoy it as much since I didn't take a car.
#15 in Cincy/KY was my third. I really enjoyed it because I finally got to take my Shelby Charger.

#8 in Indy - still have the in car video of the laps around the Brickyard. Didn't get to take my car. But it was still a blast!
#9 in Chicago - was loading the car when the phone rang....
#12 in Memphis - wasn't sure if I was going to make it to this one or not, but the trip wasn't as bad as I expected. ;) :D

But I have t-shirts from #10 and #13 too.

10 - brought Brad's (Shmedley on here) Charger out to MI. First time I've seen hookers, drug dealers and drunk hillbilly's with a bobcat all within a 45min time-frame. Like being in the studio audience of "Cops"

12 - brought the SDAC-Chicago Nyer down to Memphis. Learned that sometimes drunk homeless people fall out of their wheelchairs, one legged hookers run pretty fast, and downtown Memphis is like a maze.

13 - brought the SDAC-Chicago Nyer to MD. Learned that Moparboyy's idea of "street legal" means fast enough to get away. The barrels marking construction zones will do a number on trailer fenders, and a Dakota pulling a Shadow doesn't stop fast without a little bit of a smoke show.

14 - Drove whatever I felt like each day since it was 20 min away. Planning a convention is a lot of work. But it was fun having it close to home. "Strange Brew" is best watched on the side of a trailer.

15 - Drove the turbo voyager out and back. Nitro lemonade + Bob Evans + Van with no A/C and 6 people in it = hurting. Big Bone Lick state park and the cornhole festival are what people do for recreation in northern KY.

Yep, Rob, Pat, Brandon, and myself ventured on out to SDAC-15 in good ole Cincy. It was a great time and we actually ran into a couple of other local guys there as well; not excluding by any means the number of GREAT people we met up with, such as Kevin Isenberg, Ken and his son, the Chicagoland Crew, Greg Thewes and J. Jordan, D. Viola, Adam and Cuda Tugger's bunch, Chuck Green and his fam., and a number of others! SDAC-16 is most likely out of the picture I'm taking summer classes so I can graduate college in December of 06. I cannot wait to attend another one though, simply because of the atmosphere that is produced there by all of these enthusiasts... I mean come on, how great was it that a handful of people helped my brother out when his car died on the way back from the car show trailered it back ot the hotel, and worked in the 90+ degree heat until they were sure it was good??? What was even better were the long nites chillin' in the parking lot by our cars and seeing the entire TD community getting loaded! HAHA Great times!

SDAC-15 was my first. It was a family affair. :grouphug: I drove the Red '88 Shelby Z, the wife drove the Primer Turbo Mini Van and the daughter drove the Black 1990 LeBaron GTC VNT Convertible. This will not be our last!
When I get the Black '88 Shelby Z restored I'll have to hire a "rent-a-driver" :blah:

It wasnt a big thing. Dave and i cleaned the hell out of that car. Evey speck of rubber removed from the wheel wells. The problem was, we decided to swap the front rims with the rear. One of the fronts had a nick in the rim, and the guy noticed it was in the rear now, as opposed to the front (same guy who checked it when we left) It wasnt on the retal sheet with the list of damage to the car) I managed to sway him into believeing he was wrong.

So no issue there really but almost got burnt! lol

The real reason is, most rental contracts stipulate unlimited miles these days. If you read further, it says basically you cannot corss the misissippi river for distance. So if anything happened to the car, accident, breakage,i would be so S#$&*ed, that it isnt feasable. I actually rented the same GT several months later, and it seems that i am not the only one who flogged the hell out of it. This car is a poster child on why to never buy rental cars.....

Wow - this thread brings back alot of memories.

I went to a total of (9) SDAC conventions:

SDAC-2 = Bud's Creek, MD
SDAC-3 = Detroit, MI
SDAC-4 = Indy, IN
SDAC-6 = Topeka, KS
SDAC-7 = Detroit, MI
SDAC-8 = Indy, IN
SDAC-10 = Detroit, MI
SDAC-11 = Brantford, ONT.
SDAC-12 = Memphis, TN

As a matter of fact, I have all of the shirts from the above SDAC conventions. Even though my SDAC-2 shirt is now over 10 years old and has a few holes.

Best Regards,

LOL AGAIN!!! it was the TRUCK you raced!!! ;). 13 and 11 I was there with only the truck. 10, 12, and 15 I had short lived racing experiances. 10 and 12 Trans took dumps one MAJOR) 15 the fuel was wrong in the car and oops... Oh well.

Blackie is at the welder having rear 1/4's worked on (Thanks Cliff for the 1/4's) FLoor Pan work (thanks kevin for the pan) Front rad support beefed up (5500 rpm dumps and L body rad supports do not get along) K frame beefed up and whatever else he thinks needs doing. She won't be there this year. And she'll look like no other when finished.

I do hope to have a daytona and '87 SC there. The only debate is take 1 or 2 days to drive to Topeka.

That's 10 below... Swapped the trans in 3 hours at the track. It broke so hard, ti cracked the back of the block... took 2 qts of oil to drive home... Poor folks behind me...

...

I made a plate that bolts on in place of the trans dust cover, with a pin hanging down. It then bolts to a piece of 1x3 square tubing that connects the front motor mount, the k frame and the engine. It 's completely removable, and it really strenghtens things up.

Life got in the way these past couple of years... I was signed up for SDAC-9, as it was just about the time I got my first Shelby Charger. I made it to SDAC-10 in MI, and witnessed the Donovan Launch of Destruction first hand. The Chicago guys dominated the bracket race that year. Moparboyy took first, I took second, and Lou took third. I brought the Neon R/T out instead of a Shelby, but still had a blast:

http://mm-racing.com/sdac10finals.JPG

This is just prior to red-lighting and handing the trophey to Moparboyy. I was cutting near-perfect lights all day, and just couldn't keep it together for the final. We were roomies on that trip, and attribute our success to several nights of bacon pizza and crazy bread from Little Ceasars. This was back before Moparboyy turned into a drunk. :faint: :D

One of these years I'll have the time to make it out to another.
