Need tires for the CSXT Currently very bald toyo 205/50/15

I was looking at some 225/50/15s but they are hard to find so I was thining about some 205/60/15 or maybe some 225/60/15 or 205/55/15

my only concern is if how much I can expect going from a 205/50 to a different size like a 225/60 will mess with the speedo

Also, I don't know how much the size of the sidewall will affect performance. I imagine a shorter side wall is better but I also think the 50 that are on there now provide a pretty bumpy ride around town....

Here's a good calculator to check them out:

I'd say look for a 225/50/15 or a 205/55/15 (both same height), but there aren't a whole lot of choices left in those sizes.

I recently switched from 225/50/15 Falkens to 205/55/15 Yokahama V4S tires.

When they pulled the old, beat to hell, worn out before their time, garbage Falkens off the car and set them side be side with the Yokahama I was blown away. I could see zero width difference even though the 205/55 should be 0.75" narrower. We even set a board across the tires. Maybe there is a difference when they are actually mounted .... but it doesn't look like it.

I've driven on the V4Ss for a couple of thousand miles, including quite a bit of rain, and I love them. F Falken! Go Yoko!

how are they as far as ride comfort, the 205/55?

Yeah, I am thinking about the 205/55 since they seem to be just lightly less wide but have the same ride height

the difference in height between 205/50 and 225/60 is HUGE. HUGE. and your speedo would be WAY off unless you switched gears on your speed sensor to the correct one.

anywho, 205/55r15 is a great size for a lot of these cars. exclaim uhp, ziex 912, ecsta asx, fuzion zri are all around $70 a piece in that size, and all are 'good' tires from what ive heard of people using them.

Yeah there are a lot more choices in the 205/55 size than the 225/50. I'd love to put 225s on the Charger, but will probably end up with the 205/50.

Ride quality so far has been really nice. The tires are on a Daytona CS with the "stiff" suspension, so the ride has been a little jaring from the get go. One of the four Falkens went way out of round. I had the tires balanced and rotated every 3000 miles or less because I had a vibration and could never get rid of it. Well, turns out it was a Falken. I guess I'm a little biased toward round tires, so the Yokos are a nice upgrade.

i too have seen a lot of problems with the falken ziez 512 in particular.

right now if i was gonna buy new falkens the only ones id look at are azenis 615s and those are pretty hardcore for street duty.

forgot to mention i have some exclaim uhp's and like em.

I just need to find a shop in town to get some tires. sams club will only put what I already have on the car or what their computer says I should have. I am not sticking 195's on it :) and I would like to try something different than the 205/50's.

I may try NTB, pepboys, and firestone since they are nationwide.

They wont put them on since they are afraid they will get sued... I want to get them from a national chain so that no matter where I am if I have a blow out or something they will replace the tire... but I may just have to give up on that one.

Ask them if you can sign a waiver or liability form. Or you can just bring them the wheels and have them mount them up. Put your car on four jack stands for a minute.

I'm a Michelin fan. BFG Makes some decent tires in the sizes you have mentioned as well. What exactly are you looking for in a tire?

My fiancee has one Kumho on her car. One of the original Goodyear RSAs got sliced down the side (I wish I knew what she did in her free time because her car has also been keyed from front to back .... she's a freaking computer programmer for God's sake). The Kumho Ecstasa (or however it is spelled) has been a decent tire.

Oh, and still loving my Yokos.

225/45r16 is a sweet tire size for k-cars but imop you'd need a 7.5 rim which is hard to come by.
