I want to make clear that I understand the need for keeping things clean. However, is it necessary to move a post that isn't even R-rated?? It was a video link on top of that. I understand a picture of some sort that pops up at work, but A link??!!
I'm not trying to get on anyones bad side or cause a problem. I figured it was a funny song. Isn't it up to the viewer to look at the link title and think "Hmmmm, work isn't such a great place to watch or listen to this." I could understand if it was the SNL "D*ck in a Box" video.
Am I going to get banned for "Gee, dad was awful HARD on the Beaver tonight!"???????
Thanks for listening.

Here is what it comes down to. We will never please everyone. Do I laugh and find things funny that are posted and removed? Sure! Do I want them there because of the reasons that have been previously beaten like a dead horse? No. It is plain and simple. We don't want to be any other forum and we want to encourage all different types to feel comfortable on the boards. We have to cater to the audience as a whole, not to just the few of you that don't like it because you don't want to understand (you know how to understand, but just don't want to).

Let me use this as example. How many people from the SDAC, SDML, FMML, etc lists that don't visit forums because they are complicated, contain too much drama, are not safe to view at work, etc? (most use archieve viewer to read them)

So if I look at who we have here now, who want here, and how we are labeled both online and by web filters, no.... I don't want that here. We are here about cars, not about all of the other BS in the lounge. The lounge is just a play pen and is not why we are here. Boostedmopar is more directed towards that kind of material and is a site I cannot visit at work.

Well then you had better remove a ton of vids as quite a few contain swearing but they are still allowed?

Your not being equal, tons get thru, only a few get removed.

I thought they just prefered text or didnt like pictures? :confused2: But this makes a good point.

It is tough to police everything and the PG-13 definition is a bit subjective.

Man, in my opinion, I feel like i am back in high school...all this pg-13 and "R" rated crap is getting old. I am not putting down any staff member on this site because you are all good guys and just trying to make people happy. But honestly we are all adults here right? I think alot of people feel like there being treated like kids. Why not have a section where theres a Adult section? NSFW section, but not like chitown racings one where theres all just porn...yea jt, i seen you there

I Geuss its just a touchy situation no matter how you look at it.

Hey Hey! how about having a "Work Turbo Mopar Forums" And a "Personnal Turbo Mopar Forum"
Lol....just kidding.

I really hope this wasn't directed at me. I stated I understand the need to keep an eye out. This place has a lounge, which is for off topic stuff. That is what I posted. That is also why it was a link and not a picture or avatar(sorry Will and I'll bring some hot dogs to roast). :thumb:
In really thinking about it, I guess I feel like Will did. I don't care that it got removed(I know, it didn't sound like that in the first post), just a heads up would have been nice.

Frank.....I wasn't trying to start anything with the post. I actually thought it was clean enough, I guess I was wrong. My apologies for posting it.

Like I've stated before and I'll state it again; at first it did hit a sour note with me to see my avatar removed. It's not about understanding anything because I do. I wasn't given the chance to even remove it. Does it make that much of a difference to me? Maybe, maybe not. But in the end it doesn't matter and I agreed with everyone with valid "mature" opinions/points and the rest that want to make things personal over the internet, will. There will always be people like that, so let them be. No matter how the 'violators' feel in the end it doesn't matter, it's what the owner(s) want and what the admin are instructed to enforce that matters and I'm cool with that. But some people here get a bit touchy...... Bryan, I'll invite the chick from my avatar to join us :banaride::whip::bolt:

I think the biggest issue is no warning, tell them to remove and give reasons, removing stuff and not telling is like Hitler.

As for other stuff, its random at best, if your going to make it PG13, then make it PG13 for everyone.

...... That is also why it was a link and not a picture or avatar...... But it did have a pic associated with the link and the pic (of the breasts) was what got it removed (from what I heard in the admin forum). It wasn't the link that got it removed, it was the picture.

My appologies for sounding pretty rough... wasnt my intent.

It is very hard to not be subjected. Yes we police when we find it and there are tons that get through, but Simon, you off all people should already know the answer to that.

We just want folks to think about everyone else before they post. That is all. Think about could be offensive to another OR just remember that people want to view the site from work. The club exists for everyone, not just for one person.

Sorry if I missed the point earlier in the thread of what was being got at.

No offense...there are other forums for R and PG-13 rated pictures and such. Please go there if you want that type of thing. Let's keep this forum clean. I don't want to worry about whether I can open threads in front of my wife and daughter. I have been totally embarrassed by some of the pictures in the threads I've opened while my wife was in the room.

For those that don't like something or think something isn't fair or whatever your issue is...

If you think about this forum as you would being a guest in someones home than you will better understand what you should or shouldn't say or do. Nobody is perfect...so don't get me wrong with what I am saying.

The reality of this forum is that it is owned by someone that is very gracious to invite us in and does their best to accomidate all of us and even cater to our wants and needs...and to be honest it just pisses me off that anyone that is a guest (member) here wants to question or complain as to why a video or an avatar or a post was moved or deleted. Please quit your crying about "it's not fair" and whatever else...it's just childish.

We are all hard working people and have more important things to do like making a living...if you are going to take a little than give a little...and be understanding that there might have been something about your avatar or your post or the video you posted that might be offending to fellow board members and their family members and/or employers.

I'm sorry if anyone does not respect my point of view on this. I can tell you that my experiences as one of the original staff members of Turbododge was alot of work. I spent so much time handling issues that were trivial at best...and maybe that's where my point of view comes from now.

I think the biggest issue is that no warning was given, the items were removed, no notes, etc, THAT is a problem-its called Etiquette. Also, the playing field is varied, some things slide, some things are picked on, thats the other issue. We also pay to be here, or most do, so we are allowed to bring things up, ;)

You are correct Andy. It was that we were not told about it. It would not have taken hardly any time to let us know. I understand why it was done and so does Will about his avatar. It would have been a courteous gesture to send us a small message. That is more where this whole thing has ended up. We weren't purposely being rude, we were posting something humorous that ended up going slightly across the line. We all have a better understanding of what can be used as pics, avatars, or links. So it was in effect, a learning experience.

:amen:

As a moderator in the past I've always sent a PM to someone when I deleted a post or wanted their avatar changed, never had anybody get upset when the reason for doing it is explained to them up front.

Looks like we all can learn from this.

One thing that I like to see if you feel the need to post PG-13 material in the lounge is to be sure the title of the thread describes what awaits the person inside. A thread that says "can you believe this" entices someone to click on the post without knowing what to expect, it could be an interesting post about thier car, or ??? A thread that says "boobies" is pretty obvious in regards to what you are going to find inside, and if I saw that while at work or in front of my family I can easily choose not to view it. I'm not offended by risky content, just pefer to be able to avoid it when I choose to.

Well said. I think some people on here are totally missing the issue of what we're trying to say. For me at least, it's not an issue of WANTING to break the rules or not understanding. It's the principle of having no warning or not given the chance to right something I've done wrong. I've openly admitted it, I've openly apologized, now let me fix it. I don't need to be micromanaged, especially when I did not intentionally mean to offend anyone. And there are some people on here that are way too serious; sometimes it's not what you say, it's how you say it. But in the end there are some that just want to have the last word...and these people aren't even admin or moderators. If you feel like you need to say something to me personally, go ahead. Click under my name and send me a PM, it's okay, it's just the internet.....:eyebrows:
