long story short.... I bought a 89 lebaron convertible GTC
read here: http://www.turbo-mopar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28516
#3 cylinder has low compression, the thing is leaking oil from everywhere (even the steering rack)
instead of trying to fix all the stuff in the car, I decided to pull the motor and swap in an extra 2.2L I had from a wrecked car, just to get it going.
I swapped turbos and intakes from the original motor to the spare motor and put it in the car.
I got it running, but I have low boost pressure (6-8 psi according to the gauge) If I disconnect the hose to the wastegate it will overboost easily.
I hear a hissing noise right from the middle of the intake, with the engine running. I cant find any vaccum leaks and I have 20 inches directly off the intake port, 15-16 inches on other various accessories.
the motor seems strong by itself, so I dont think the cam timing is off. igintion timing is set on 12 degrees.

This should rule out the piping and ic all the way to the intake manifold. How are you controlling your boost or is the computer still controlling things?

yeah... everything is still stock
I re-did all the vaccum lines... no more hissing noise from the middle of the intake manifold.

Do you still have the restricter in the line going to the WG?

yes.. its there
does it matter which way it goes? (ie resticted end pointing toward the WG or restricted end pointing towards the pressure line?)
Also, does it matter what color the restrictor is? the one thats in the car is yellow, but I found one (I think from a turbo I) thats blue. hole in the yellow one looks to be a tad smaller.

mines been doing the same thing..... is your waste gate solinoid hose to thin? try unplugging it from the wgs and seeing if it overboosts if it doesnt plug it back in and unplug it from the turbo end if it does overboost then the line is to thin or may be clogged

I know that there is a difference in size and that they are color coded, but I honestly don't know which one is the proper one.

Not sure I follow your logic.
car has the stock hard plastic line on it, so I dont see what the problem would be. If I disconnect the line from either end I will get overboost condition.

ooooo thats a tough one.... try taking the orifaces out all together? idk man my problems arose after i adjusted my wg actuator arm so im thinking i have it a lil to tight.... i still am not fixing it i figure the way gas prices are i really dont need that extra power

I wouldnt mees with the factory stuff, just get a G valve, see what it does then

pretty sure the stock waste gate solenoid is bad/leaking.
I wonder if the canister purge soleniod is the same? was thinking about swapping them just for test purposes.

It could be sticking closed. I am not 100% positive that they are the same, as my WG solenoid makes a vicious sounding click compared to all the rest over there, but it couldn't hurt to try. Just make sure that you have all the connectors plugged in to ensure that you don't get a code and go into limp in mode.

I swapped solenoids and get more boost pressure, but its not constant.
when it works the boost spikes to about 12 psi then gradually falls back to about 6-7 psi.
it overboosted twice and was lazy the rest of the time.
I have a G-valve ordered, just playing with other ideas, since it will take a couple days to get here.

I think that is actually right for stock. You only get 12PSI for so many seconds and then it gets lowered back down to 7PSI. It overboosting was probably the computer trying to learn everything again once you swapped solenoids.

hmmm... that might make sense
guess I have never owned or driven an older turbo dodge car with a correctly functioning, stock turbo system.
