Well, it didn't take long, but I lunched the driver side axle shaft on the Omni earlier. Broke right at the snap ring groove in the outer CV joint. Already fixed it, but I was thinking about moving the engine to the pass side about 1/8"-3/16". I know the L-bodies are tight quarters to begin with but I am thinking the axle may have been compressed into the outer CV cup.
Sound like a possibility?

Also, the original owner is being a nice guy and is not going to screw me on the title. He said no problem, we'll get it fixed.:thumb:

A525 axle?

No, I have a 555 in my car. I think it was an 88+ TBI auto axle that broke. After cleaning it up, I noticed a brittle area that extended out towards the edge. So, I think it was a bad shaft.
I've gotten shafted before, but the first time I can say literally.
