Tach went out. Help!

My tach just went out on me. I switched radios from the stock to an Infiniti unit and I fired it up and the tach wasn't sitting at 800, it was sitting at 0. I rev it up - nothing. Slap the dash and rev it up - it jumps then sits there and then goes back down to 0.

What gives? I really don't have $75 for a new tach, is there any way to fix this? I am going racing next Sunday, the 26th.

Also, before anyone asks, it is important, I have a RMVB in it, so I gotta know where to shift.

Is it a factory tach or aftermarket?

you screwed up a ground when you threw the radio in.

Hmm... it's a stocker.

Yah I think it's a ground. The power mirrors no longer work, the traveler system is out, and as is the tach.

Im going to take the radio out and try again.

Okay just cleaned the ground going to the back of the radio and the ground on the passenger side motor mount. Still no tach, mirrors, or traveler. :banghead:

There is a loose wire, however, coming from the grey terminal that used to be spliced into a box I had in the glove box for my CD changer. But of course I took that out today. Could this be the loose connection?? If so where do I hook it to??

Not sure what that wire goes to, but is it bare? maybe it or another wire touched the frame of the dash and blew a fuse?

There should be a ground for the radio that bolts on the air bag computer someplace. One of those steel grey fabric looking grounds.

:( '89 - my car didn't come with an air bag.

What fuses may be related with a tach, power mirrors, or traveler???

Okay it was just the #2 fuse. :D Haha I'm such a dumby sometimes. lol
