I have never seen anyone break one before so WTF? It snapped cleanly so maybe a metalurgy issue?

I think he just enjoys posting the carnage pics. What other believable reason would he have for not swapping that auto out for a 568 by now?:p

I don't want to commute in a 5 speed, :(

I have the R/T for that,

Trust me, I'd have broken a 568 by now too, :o

I thought everybody on here was touting about how spectacular the 413/727 is and how it's such a durable package... ;) :D

OK, gonna show my ignorance of FWD Autos; which (now busted) part are we looking at? IM shaft?, Input?, looks like it has a carrier for a planet gear assembly, but it's just not clicking as to just what it is!

It goes on the end of the trans, its bolted to the first transfer gear. I looked in my book and they call it the output shaft. A planetary does go in there hence why I had reverse.

It is indeed an output shaft as the others have said. It is a piece that rarely fails on RWD cars, but is more prone to fail on FWD cars usually, however not until extreme power levels. This is probably a more isolated instance. Usually the input shaft fails on RWD's(200r4 for example[GM])...

Ditto with ours, some of the high HP guys are snapping the input shafts. :o
