After fixing a few new engine bugs, car ran 12.95@106.90,8.28-1/8th,1.75-60'
All this at 16-17 lbs boost.

Can't seem to keep the timming belt from moving,on that pass I think the belt moved when I hit second gear.

Tensioner was well over the 40 ft-lbs the book calls for and is still tight.

I will pull the cam gears off and inspect the keys and gears themselves.

Also will take the belt completly off and inspect for missing teeth.

May pull the drive off the crank and make sure the key is in good shape.

When I tension the belt,in relation to the tensioner bolt at what position should the hex key hole be when the belt is tensioned properly???

I'd have to say 12's on your first pass ever is pretty freaking awesome:clap2: Of course we are never satisfied, low 12's next time then 11's...

I think the position of the tesioner to hex depends on too many factors, if the head has been milled, if the belt is new vs old etc. I don't think its a reliable indicator of tension. Sounds like you have the gauge, that and the harmonic 'flap test' at 2800-3000 rpms are the best way to go IMO

Good first outing Andy! I have a feeling that car will be (is) pretty darn fast!

I'm not too familar with the TIII's but I've seen other common block
5 bolt crank sprockets crack from the bolt holes to the teeth on the pulley raising on the teeth up causing it to jump the t-belt when your romping on it
just a thought

Belt was off 2 teeth at the crank, cams where still in time.

All drive gears look good, all teeth still on the belt, keys in cams look good.

Put the belt back on in time and it is so tight it howls a little.

Took it for a ride and it spins the street tires so hard in the first three gears
you would think its on ice at 17 lbs boost.

For compairison the 8V never spun the tires like that even at 24 lbs boost, running 12.8s@107.5mph.

If the timming belt will hang in there,I think it has a low 12 or high 11 sec. pass in it at 17 lbs.

I WILL RUN 11.5s THIS YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!DAMN IT!!!!!!!!!

car sounds very fast. where are you located?

and pix of the car?

i've havent seen a TIII in an omni except Carroll's 001 and Alan Q.'s Masi-powered cars.......i think Seth (from Boston, MA) is currently building a TIII '86 GLHS last time i spoke with him car was to be completed this year. he had the engine in the back seat.

Andy is in Memphis. His GLHS is very nice. I can't wait to see the turbo 3 in person. It looks very good from the pictures I saw. If I could find the pictures, I'd post them up.
