Steering Rack Noise! HELP!

Hey guys...i posted about my noises before..but now i know where its coming now...its from the steering rack....it sounds like its coming from middle of the car.....Now, is there any common problems that do that? I was getting the clunking when the wheel was turns almost all the way....

Is there anything i can check?

theres a girl at work that had a 89 shelby daytona with a bad rack, no clunking but when u turned the wheel it acted like it would skip a tooth on the rack. very funny feeling when taking a corner at speed. Dont know of any way to check it other than maybe jacking the car up, disconnect the outer tie rods from the knuckles and hold onto the inner tie rod while someone turns the wheel lock to lock. If u feel anything weird or hear noises the rack is probably bad. Might want to take a look at the steering shaft u-joint too.
