I'm wanting to build (in the future) another engine but plan to do something different. I always enjoyed doing things that are different, like building one of the first 2.2L long rod engines.
Does anyone know what options there are for upgraded T1 turbochargers? Is someone out there building upgraded T1's with say a 50-trim compressor / stage 2 turbine?
Figured I'd ask to see if anyone knew anything.
Thanks!

I can sell this to you, if you're interested.
Freshly rebuilt TI with 50 trim compressor wheel, stage 1 turbine wheel, it will come with stock .48 turbine housing with cross thread hole, so you'll have to buy the turbine housing yourself, you'd want a .63 housing anyways. Never even put on the car. Thought I was going to use it but I have different plan.

The question should be, what CAN'T you install. There are 100's of options and you can almost make anything fit.
So the proper questions to ask are-
1) Goals?
2) Race or street car or both?
3) If street driven, do you want lag or none?
4) What engine/powertrain mods are you going to do?
5) Stock are aftermarket IC etc.

Hi Garry,
We have upgraded TI turbos with TU60, Super 60 and Super 70 compressor wheels. We can also upgrde the turbine sides with Stage 1, 2 or 3 wheels and housings. It's all up on our website in the modified turbo section. Give us a call should you need any assistance in matching the best combination to your application.

Not at the gig anymore, moved onto better things. Check this out: http://www.turbo-mopar.com/forums/member.php?u=713 explains what I'm doing now.
Been away from these TD's too long and alot has changed since I first started working on them. Don't have any time anymore to design and develop parts, rather just buy what has been tested already and is known to work.

Thanks for the information Chris...
I'll check out the website and look things over. Maybe I'll catch you at one of the CASDAC meets and we can chat some.

Unsure if would make the trip from Michigan to Cali - that's 2400 miles. Though it might be soon that the car will be shipped out here. I just need to find someone that wants to take a road trip and tow it back for me. :thumb:

uhhh Gary upgrade to at least T2 status. That's a big performance increse right there. The T1 suckthrough setup is a waste of time. What are your goals with the car?

Seems everyone out there now-a-days is running a T2 or converting to a hybrid. I also enjoyed doing the odd-ball things. I've got some ideas running around that I think would be cool to do.
I'm not looking to build a 400 hp motor. Just something that's nicely put together with the correct components. I plan to doing a full restoration on the Shelby once I get it out here to Cali. I've built the race car, I've done the show scene with my Neon (fully sponsored show car). So I've had both worlds from breaking parts while racing, to having models sit on your car. This time I'd like to restore the car, and give it a little more power (300hp T1 Spearco setup would be nice). Still doesn't answer the question of what the goals are and I'll leave that open for now... :thumb:

I prefer the models that like to sit on race cars :D

That's part of the plan but looking to expand the intake manifold higher up, and make the entry longer for the Spearco unit. Had a friend named Nate Lang (Bill Baker would remember him) that came to SDAC8 - I thought I"d be the only T1 w/ the Spearco kit. Guess what, he shows up with one. Nate and I became friends as he also went to GMI. Nate had taken his intake cut the top off the log and extended the roof. Wish I could find pictures of it, and if I do will post them so you understand what I'm thinking. I also think it was Joey from Canada that used to run in the 12's with a log setup and Spearco kit.

Agreed. But unless you get into SEMA, or some of the other Import shows I used to go to, that's where they have the race cars and models. :D

Yes I agree!! :banana-mario:

Bryan LaForests GLH-T goes 12.6 on a non-intercooled log. A whole bunch of stock parts with a quaiffe in a 568, some race gas, a bunch of timing and an unplugged wastegate actuator. It's been together for years too! As in, at least 5 now!

id like to see some modded log manifold stuff. a spearco kit with a log mani that has been cut up some and a plenum welded on would be cool. welding spacers on the backside so the injectors werent halfway into the port and the restriction ground out would be cool too. those two mods would make a log manifold not so bad and the spearco ic would hide the mods. :) bigger and less restrictive throttlebody inlet setup would be nice too.
it would be a good idea though to run 87 elec or have someone rework the cal to remove the fueling mismatch table/constant.
50 trim in a T3 housing has proven to be not the best turbo. not the worst, but not the best either. :)
