turbo sounds weird

I had my turbo rebuilt 6000 miles ago and ever since it as sounded more like a supercharger than a turbo. Is this normal, would cam timing cause this?? It has the quick spool option if that makes a difference.

If you have the timing belt to tight (especially the square tooth) it can sound like a supercharger on it's own.
