I had my turbo rebuilt 6000 miles ago and ever since it as sounded more like a supercharger than a turbo. Is this normal, would cam timing cause this?? It has the quick spool option if that makes a difference.

t1 or t2 setup? every "log" car i have ridden in has sounded kinda like a supercharger. but if its howling really bad and not spoolin like it should then something is wrong.

How is it performing? The Quick Spool option should not affect the sound.

Sounds like a small leak on one of the turbo hoses.

yeah i think thats what it is. I did some troubleshooting and found that my blow off valve was leaking so i put in a new one and that seemed to help. I have the cheap worm gear hose clamps that suck on my intake hoses and i think that is another part of the problem. I priced out tclamp style clamps and just about had a heart attack haha. My best guess is that i've got a boost leak and the turbo is overboosting trying to compensate for the leak in the system. and that the noise i am hearing is the overboost.

ok well that wasnt it....I bought some t bolt clamps and installed them and the problem still exists. What happens is the turbo will spool fine up to 10 lbs of boost and then it will flutter. Like its trying to go higher but it cant. It just bounces up to like 12 and then back to 10. However when I stand on it I can get it up to 16-17 lbs of boost (computer is programmed to 20) It makes that supercharger sound and it is getting worse. I'm starting to think it might be a problem with the turbo itself but I dont know. I'm going to get with chris this week and see what he thinks.

Block of the BOV (I know you said it's new) completly and retest.

I did that last night and it still has a problem. Unfortunately this looks like its forcing me to take off the turbo and send it in to be looked at. The rebuild is still under warranty, it'll just be really inconvenient having no car and all.
