I replaced the auto to a 520 in the Daytona. I'm using a 88 shifter, the problem I have is one of the shift cables is too short. It's the one that attaches to the drivers side of the shifter. On the tranny it connects with a ball/socket and routes straight back not toward the pass side of the car.
I have 2 of the these cables and 1 is longer than the other. the longer one is still about 4-5 inches too short to reach the shifter.
How is the cable suppose to route from the tranny bracket to the firewall? right now I have it routing behind the steering joint then through a hole in the firewall. Does anyone have a spare cable they can measure?
It kinda makes me wonder if the shifter sets further back in later Daytonas than the earlier ones. What is the length suppose to be?
It looks like this cable from Autozone.
