V8's get pretty much the same gas mileage. My 96 auto got 20mph on the highway.

5 speed v6 isnt a gutless truck if you get a lighter one. extended cab 4wd you were asking to be slow anyway... even the 318 ext cab 4wds will barely do 15.99 on a miracle day.
