does anyone know if its possible to burn a 87c257 chip with a moates.net burner.

I don't have any experience wit hthe Moates burner. But, you should be able to burn an 87C257 as a 27C256. It always works for me that way.

I kinda tried that, but it wouldn't let me, but before I did anything, I checked to see if the chip was blank and it said it wasn't. I'm gunna need a uv eraser cause I am running out of unused chips.

I have a burn1, not sure which burner you're using. Unfortunately I don't believe it can properly handle the xxxx257 proms. It supposedly only burns 2 or 3 types of eeprom. If you poke around their site, they list which eeproms it can handle.

I went ahead and ordered a willem burner, I want to be ablr to do sbec style chips.

The Moates burner is pretty basic and the list of supported devices is short. The Willem is much more flexible, especially if you get the USB-powered one. One problem is you need to get creative if you want to make a case for it.
