I'm getting close and will hopefully have everything under the hood done by the end of the weekend or shortly after. One piece I have been putting off (I think b/c I'm tierd of fabricating) has been the rear tranny brace that supports the block to the tranny. I am using a 2.4 with an A568 so I was curious what others did with there 555 or 568 combos when it came to this rear brace. I started hacking up the stock 8V brace last night but I don't know if I like where it is going and I don't really want to make a complete brace right now either. Any suggestions??

I couldn't make the 8v brace work, so I did like the 2.4 and made one from the oil pan to the tranny.

I dont have the brace from motor to trans(auto), b/c I used the srt pan and did not see the point, although I did look at the srt part that bolts to the oil pan. So just trans bolted to motor, then the front mount bolts to both, then I added a rear trans mount to K frame

I was wondering if you post was referring to the bobble strut

No, not the bobble. That part is just like before. I hacked up the stock brace last night to fit around the bits of the 2.4 and will weld in some reinforcement tonight. I have a feeling I won't like it but it should work. Despite my embarassment I post some pics anyway once I am done.

Well, nothing I'm really proud of, and a bit embarrassed to display the piece of abortion but maybe it will spawn a better idea. I took the stock brace, hacked it up and then welded in a channel to replace the missing metal. I'm sure it will work and it's better than nothing. Pics tell the story.

Oops, hacked a bit much off there

Good part is all the under hood should be done this week leaving a small bit with the inside and megasquirt. I should be able to finally turn the key before August :D

The reason I didn't do that is I wanted to be able to pull the pan w/o taking any of the brackets off.

If that's the only issue I wouldn't let it stop you. I had a minor miss calc with my turbo oil drain so I had to take my pan off last night. It was easily under 10min including reattatching some plastic so no dust got into the engine while the pan is off.

Ooops

Won't the stock 2.4 bracket work? I have one laying around and I can take pictures if needed.

Better yet use the SRT4 pan and oiling system and then you can use the SRT4 brace!

It's very possible. I didn't have one so I don't know. I do have the SRT4 pan though I also didn't have that brace. I would be interested to see pics.

There is a picture and part number for the SRT4/PT brace on my DOHC conversion pages in the dust shield pictures.
