maybe the 8valve and open down pipe just make it sound like a diesel, LOL

Never seen or read about diesel versions in the US, but I'm sure many would have them if they were available, myself included.

Maybe they had a TIII in it with the lifters rattling and the turbo seal bad so it sounded and looked like a diesel running.

What are you trying to figure out? Nearly every vehicle I look up there is a diesel option, of course not avail in N America
