I am going to pick up an 8 bolt flywheel from a jy for my auto to manual coversion and was wondering if anyone knows what the specs on them are so i am not getting a junk flywheel.

Jut get the JY unit and go to your local parts store and get a fresh resurfaced one for $50. Or just pony up the $100 for it without getting the core charge back.

Yeah, but the jy one is the one that came off the tranny i got and i can get it for $5.

Whats a machine shop charge to resurface a flywheel if your just geting it for 5 bucks it cant be to bad.

it is 15 to resurface, but i'm not sure if it is too thin or not, guess i'll just take my chances again.

If it's too thin, then you can install a shim between the crank and flywheel to bring back the lost material/spacing.

I am a really frugal person, but I can't say as I could call a $5 flywheel a gamble if you have someone that will machine it for $15.

yeah, i know about shimming it but i need to know what the thickness on a new one is supposte be so i know how much to shim it.
