So I started the Ball rolling on getting some Carbon Fiber Hoods made for the Daytonas..looking at 2nd gen, perferably Buldge hood.
They will be from VIS RACING SPORTS (http://www.visracing.com/) and we need 20 people intrested to get a new hood made.

I'm still waiting to hear back about a price, and if they need a down payment.
Anybody Intrested, if so how much you willing to spend?

Let us know how much when you hear back.

I am going to eventually make my own cowl induction g-body hood but if this will be cheaper, I might be interested in the meantime.

we are around 10 potential buyers so far...most want stock Bulged style hood.
If/ when we get to 15 potential buys I'll start a master list.

Still waiting on prices etc...VIS is very slow at email

intrested if around 300 bucks, and would have to fit 90-91 style cars

The price for the hood would be $550. We need a deposit of half that amount
from all 20 + people before we begin production. Time frame is about 8-12
weeks, may take longer due to the current carbon fiber shortage.

This does not include s/h. S/H will be calculated at the time we are ready
to collect the second half."

I think that kind of money, people are going to want to do a cowl induction hood style, not a regular buldge hood.

Wrong place to reduce weight

Depends on what you want to do with the car.

I agree I'd like to make the Buldge into a Cowl..thus Helping keep underhood temps down, and lightening...
I'm sure this can be done for the same price..but 20's alot of people to get to agree..

Right! I'd be down for a carbon fiber rear hatch with provisions for lexan rear window.....those things weigh a TON.

I wonder if the doors and hatch would work. I don't think that those would need to be extended at all,

hope your car has a full cage if you intend on fiberglass doors or you might as well not even buy the doors and just take your stock doors off, you'll be just as safe :) plus the weightsavings will be even more LOL

I don't need them. I am just thinking out loud. But I could use a lighter hatch for my SC. (no daytona here) I was looking on the site and noticed that they had parts for L bodys.

It,s the glass that weights so much, I have 1 without the glass ain,t that heavy at all.

I have held a few hatches without glass in them and they still weigh a good amount. I would say that the glass is only about 20% to 30% of the weight. Besides any weight savings is good.

"It is made to fit like stock but because it IS an aftermarket part, its hard
to say that fits perfect but people buy from us because they know our
quality and our fitment. We recommend using hood pins just for added
security."
"The underside of each OEM hood is reinforced fiberglass with a one-piece fiberglass covering the underling skeleton to provide a clean factory look"

For an aftermarket cowl induction setup, the following looks like a good setup to mimic on the daytona hood.
http://www.visracing.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=1739

I dont like the camero one because it is too steep in the front, this one is good if they could round the edges a little bit and got rid of the pointy front since our cars aren't like that.

unless you're using the cowl for air intake or it's sealed off and used for clearance all you're doing is pressurizing the engine bay and hurting your cooling and increasing lift in the front end at speed. Keep it stock with the stock power buldge.

Cowl induction is planned. IN addition, you can block them off if you dont want the induction. My point is that for that kind of money, I want a cowl induction hood.
