I can't find my factory service manual and those "other books" are no help. Once I loosen the cable clamp do I move the selector on the trans all the way towards the front of the car or towards the back? I read on the other site "Loosen the clamp, put the selector in neutral and retighten the clamp."
Thanks,
Guy Douglas

What is its current behavior? What is wrong that needs adjusting?

Frank,
1. Won't go into park
2. Must be in neutral to start
3. Doesn't have detent for first gear
Do you know if there is correct adjustment procedure?
Thanks,
Guy

I manually throw it in parkthen set the cable according to that. Helps to have someone in the car insuring it stays in park.

Very little adjustment is typically needed since you can then throw out 1st.
