Detroit area GL chapter meeting

Our monthly meeting at Buffalo Wild Wings on Thursday 7/10. Starts at 5pm goes till 9pm or so.

Buffalo Wild Wings in Warren at the NW corner of Mound and 12 Mile roads.

We had 7 or 8 which is average turnout. Simon (Bluneon) showed up, and John Long also who normally can't make meetings because of his schedule.

It started to sprinkle just as we got back to our cars when the meeting was over. The clouds in the west were very dark. Most of it passed over though.

After living in Michigan for 15 yrs, and basically every other day was a cloudy / rainy or even snowy day -- then moving out to California where its 99.9% Sunny days everyday. Been back out here for almost (4) months now, and it hasn't rained yet - and every day is the same, sun sun sun. :)

Ya know in all the preparation I've been doing for the Nats, I forgot all about the dream cruise and that we usually change our meeting to the Art Van's lot that week.

So ...

Change of plans. Instead of our meeting at Buffalo Wild Wings, we will meet at the Art Van's store parking lot on Woodward near 14 Mile Rd. Starting at 5pm or whenever folks can get there.

thats awesome barry!!!! my favorite area for the last 8 years has been between 13 and 14mile rd.
when i was 15-16 i rode my gt bicycle up there from 8 mile and I-75 where i lived, lol.

i'll be there a little early!!! i need to sand and paint my hood this weekend and put the grille on it and it will finally be one uniform color, the previous owner put the white one on in early 05'.

That ultra clean white Plymouth Laser comes creeping by in the stop & go traffic. Their child is in the back seat, standing, with his head and shoulders out the passenger side window. The cop was right behind them. I said, "that cop is gonna get them for the child not being belted in." And just at that time the cop turned on the rollers. So the car pulled into the lot where we were sitting. I don't know whether they got a ticket or warning. But they stayed a while afterwards and chatted with a couple of our folks.

I was surprised to find pics on here that are only a couple hours old right now! We had a good turnout, probably 15-20 GL folks in all. Many of us thought this was about the best turnout for cars on Woodward on a Thursday night that we had seen in the last 4-5 years we've been meeting there.

he said they got off with a warning, and he said he just recently bought the laser, it is the cleanest lazer/1st gen body i have seen. i was wearing my turbo-mopar.com shirt and told him to sign up and post some pics and he sounded enthused.

a few minutes before that there was a huge pack (25+) of new challengers, base, r/t and srt8. the big black and blue mopar/direct connection semi-rig was cruising and there was a stretch yellow r/t charger limo!.
i forgot the camera, but i definetly will have it all day sat and post some pics, i need a badass camera like dsc, jon and ryan, i was wondering what ryan was doing with the camera on the conrete wall looking into it at night time, awesome shot!

Were you guys at Art Vann? I didn't see a single Shelby car in the parking lot. Maybe I should have driven around back? Could you drive like through the building between the caution tape to get to the back? I noticed the caution tape covering all of their grass too. Which lot were you guys in? My GF and I were looking for Shelbys and did not see a single one on our way past the place. You guys going to be any place in particular at any particular time tonight or tomorrow? When I saw your vert go past Tom it was "gettin' it" :lol: Going south, once you are in front of the Art Van parking deck or store, you were well past where we were parked. The lot between the Art Van parking deck and the funeral home is where we were. I think the lot belongs to the funeral home.

For some reason nobody parked between the sidewalk and the street as they usually do. It is usually filled with classics, but when we got there last night those classics had the first row nearest the sidewalk filled. So we parked further back.

The club has no plans for Friday or Saturday at the cruise. Last night was our regular chapter meeting night (2nd Thursday of the month) so we were there.

i need to do like you do, mary beth and make seperate folders on photobucket, i have like 500+ pics in 1 folder, but if i start organizing them, all of my posts with pics will be missing their links.

(thinking out-loud) maybe i should just start a new user name and organize what i have and leave the old account alone for past posts pics.

i went back out there for a few hours this evening, just got back. i started at the woodward loop in pontiac, went all the way down to 12 mile rd and back up to m-59. got to race a nice built up bmw 525 from 25mph roll, hung with him till 65mph. he said its putting down 420whp and was impressed when i told him i might be putting down 300whp.
also got to blow the doors off a stg 2 cobalt ss running 15psi from a 40mph roll.

i'll take some pics tomorrow with my ol' 5.1 MP camera, lol.

It was pretty nuts out there today...... I called my uncle and asked him where he was with his 65 Mustang. He told me that he lost his parking spot this year because it was too expensive.... $75.00 to park and $25 for food.... I asked if they clean and polish the car too...yikes..... One of my favorite pics was the 66 Hertz rental car with the T infront of it... I wish I could have found the owner....That car was clean! Lots of neat stuff out there...plus I signed up for Team Shelby as well!

i went out for most of the day. nobody showed up like we talked on the phone about, but i did see a clean 86 cs and we spotted each other from opposite sides of woodward and gave a wave.
i also got to cruise next to a 88 lebaron for awhile. he said he hasnt had boost at all for over a year, i had him pop his hood and put the wastegate arm back on for him, happy boostin again.
seen a conquest and had a few more people recognize my car as a r/t with a turbo and got to answer questions. had 1 guy asked "i bet its running 13's right?" had another guy that had to see the timeslip to believe it.

tim and mary-beth, are you two using the bulk uploader on photobucket? every time i try to use it, it seems as its loading all of them, but hten when it says completed, i dont have any photos actually loaded. i have to load them 1 by 1, whats the trick?

i do use the bulk uploader... i believe it it flash based; so make sure you browser's flash version is the most current. other than that.... i don't kno. i guess its kinda like how i cant seem to get photos to upload on here... i get one to upload and that'll be it. lol

BWW at 12 and Mound, right? If I'm not under the convertible changing wiring, I might just drop by. I hope to get it more reliable before the weekend of the 20th, when the UAW show is at the Region 1 HQ (Tank Rd.) When my car gets hot, it won't start unless I tinker with the wiring. It is either the park neutral diode or some wire going to the starter. I can wiggle the harness and it will start working again... most of the time. What a crappy problem to have. I'm gonna replace ALL of the automatic related wiring, which I got the harness pieces off this site. Now, I can't get a diode anywhere. No AutoZone, no stealership, nowhere. So, I may be junkyard diving again one day after work. Gotta fix a GFI outlet in the outside wall for my business first. Then, gotta go get new glasses. It sux getting old. I'm getting tired of working on cars too. Now, I'll take some cheese with my whine. : )

Afterwards? Occasionally during the summer, some of us have left early and gone to the Thursday night "cruise in" at the WP Chrysler museum (held during June & July). But usually when we leave, we just leave.

Yeah, that was quite funny... I think they were amazed to see it on the car. It was packaged kind of inconspicuous but apparently not quite good enough... LOL.

Great turn out, was the biggest monthly meet i've ever seen.

Despite the rain chances, we are still on for tomorrow, Sat Oct 25 for our 11th annual fall color tour.

We meet up at about 10am in the Kohl's parking lot (behind Wendy's) on Lee Rd near Brighton.

Lee Rd is exit # 58 off of US-23, the first exit south of I-96.

Our fall color tour has often been described as the most fun a person can have with their car on public roads!!

how big of a turnout did you have, it looks a little slim compared to a few years ago.A dozen cars total. It was a good turnout considering the weather forecast. It was the coldest day any of us could recall. Sunshine broke out a little by the end of the day, but the morning was miserable, cold and windy.
