A friend has a 2002 Sebring auto, when warmed up it judders when slowing down, like its having trouble shifting gears. He's done a basic gearbox service, but thats not made any difference (and the fluid is ok), could this be a computer problem or something within the box itsself?
Any pointers welcome :)

it could be either. i'd check with the dealer and see if there were any tsb's relaesed on the controller for the trans. if i remember correctly, the a-604's in the early 90's cars had a tsb out for a shudder condition which invloved reprogramming or a new controller.

there are flashes for the computer but they usaully dont do anything, make sure he used atf +4 in it when he changer the fluid, there is a solenoid pack that goes bad on the side of the trans, it is around $200 I think, you may want a dealer to check codes first instead of throwing parts at it

He's turned it over to the local dealer, so we'll see now I guess. Thanks JD, I'll pass that on in case its useful :)

Probably the typical input and output shaft speed sensors, they go more than I change my underwear,
