Got a couple pieces in today so I started on my down pipe. Im using 304 stainless, got the bends really cheap because they had some little defects in the bend that arent even noticable. Im installing a V-band between the downpipe and side exit exhaust for quick and easy release. I didnt do much tonight, since I dont wanna have the car apart till the weekend. So Ill finish it up this weekend with more updates.

I didnt have a 3" flange, so I got a 2.5" one and modified it. A couple minutes with a cut off wheel and that got taken care of.

Instead of rolling a bead in the pipe, and having the flange press against that, and then pressing against the donut. I just welded the flange right onto the pipe. And the weld bead should take care of sealing onto the donut. It also added strength back the flange since I cut it out. Not how most people do it....but hey, gotta think outside the box!

So thats all I did tonight, the power just took out my shop, plus I dont feel like frying my 2k dollar welder when lighting strikes.

Thats how I did the flange on the Horizon. Welded it to the pipe and let the donut sit flush on it. Worked fine on my car.:thumb:

Thats good to hear, adds a little confidence to what I did, hehe.

Can you find something sneeking behind those pretty bends? hehe, I almost though about working on that tonight, but didnt have any materials anyways.

Gotcha. You were talking about an Evo 8 one. You have a pic of what the 2nd gen DSM one look like? I bought a Conquest one and an Evo one that you mentioned to see which one will work better for me. I'll sell the other.:thumb:

Its 3.5" thick, 33.5" long and 10.5" tall.

Its even got a flange right off of the intercooler for a Tial BOV. So I may use it, maybe not.

Got the downpipe finished tonight. It went pretty good only thing I had trouble with is the flange to swingvalve bolts. They were all rusted, and had no stops on them and it took a good hour to get them out. Its also a paint to line the sons of bitches up. Ill finish up the side exit dump tomorrow.:D

oh not too bad, im still young so it doesn't bother me. Its not really that loud actually. With the windows up and cruising you cant here it over the wind noise.

Good thing about side dumps is they have zero drone.

A few years back I bought a SC that had a 3" side dump. It was late and I must have been really tired cause I didn't notice it until the next morning when I was looking at the car in my driveway.
