Do you live in the saltbelt, and need a SOLID car? Does the drivetrain in your turbo dodge run well, yet it's body is rotted and rusted to Hell? Then this Shadow would be perfect for you!

http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee39/blk86trbo/p8240105.jpg

The clearcoat is virtually gone on the top side of the car, yet the paint is still there, and NO surface rust.

http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee39/blk86trbo/002-1.jpg

The floors in this car are great! That's what not driving it in the winter salt will do for you.

Formerly owned by the infamous Angelo Taylor. Was modded sometime prior to run 88-89 electronics. Has a custom gauge panel, aftermarket steering wheel, 255ltr/hr Walbro, radiator fan works normally but also has a toggle switch mounted on the dash.

http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee39/blk86trbo/024-1.jpg

I added air bags to the rear springs to move weight forward and help at the starting line.

http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee39/blk86trbo/airbags-1.jpg

Couple years ago I removed the engine and trans, and it's been sitting since. This car drove good down the road. No jingles or rattles over bumps, steered straight and the 4 wheel disk brakes worked great...they would hold the car at the starting line with 15lbs boost!

Interior is pretty clean and the bucket seats wrap around you awesomely. Headliner was removed, but I still have the backing board and I bought new fabric for it. Door sills were cracked so I removed them.

It's sporting a set of steelies with tires that are in (very) poor shape. They hold air, but that's about it.

If you've got a good running turbo motor and auto trans, this would be the perfect car to install it in. Other than that, to get it back on the road it would need a battery, exhaust, and a set of better tires.

Since it's so solid, I'm gonna need to get $800 for it. Located in northern Illinois. PM or email me if you have any questions, but I'm leaving in a couple days on a vacation with my Family and it may take a while to respond.

Thanks!

Wow Paul didn't know you were going to sell it.. Seems your looking to pick up something else??

Hey Joe, well I'm not being forced to sell it, as it's stored out at my Parent's farm. But if someone needs a solid Shadow I'd enjoy finding it a new owner. It's a shame to see it not being used, it really is a decent car. It's the fact that I have 426 projects in front of it, and it will be a while till I can devote some time.

I know all about the projects thing.. I've seen this car in person and the pictures don't do it justice!

I think that must be the one that he (Angelo) had George Kish change the electronics on and had a quick engine built for it. I think that car was running 12s before he sold it. I didn't know you ended up with it, Paul. I'm glad to know it's still out there!

IIR 11.9X was the best?

blk86trbo
07-03-2008, 09:09 PM
Actually John, both you and JT are correct. Angelo told me it went 12.9 on motor and 11.9 with a big shot of Nause. ;) When he sold it, the top end of the engine had been removed. After swapping some parts into it, the best I was able to squeak out was a 12.77 (untuned) on motor.

In the winter months I refused to drive it, which is why it's still so solid. Unfortunately there was no place to keep it indoors, and the clearcoat suffered.

It's a solid, cheap, starting point for someone else to have fun with!

DANG IT! My old car!! My gauges, my wheel.....uhhhhhh had to sell due to divorce costs.:(

I gave Kish a 87 CSX that was totalled and had him put its motor into this formerly T1 2.5.....with S60 set up! I had it for toooo short of a time and it might have made 5 passes down the track at most on motor and another three with nitrous.....75 hp is NOT a monster amount. I wish I had the motor and electronics to put into Matchbox!;)

This is a deal gang, just the Autometer Phantom gauges cost quit a bit of $$$.

I remember you said something a few years ago about taking the drive train out in the future.....can you do turbo engine swaps into non-turbo L body 4 doors?

Anyone else?:hail:

I had named this car "The Shootist" after JohnWaynes last film.

Angelo, it would be much easier to use a turbo 4 door L body car as a donor to convert Matchbox. I wonder who would have one of those...

Damnit Paul! can you e-mail me some pics of what is left under the hood? Was it originally a 5-speed car? Any holes in the dash where the gauges are mounted?

Sure, I'll email you some pics of under the hood...everything is there except the engine and trans. It's always been an auto car as far as I can tell. I think I bought the tilt steering column that's in it from you a few years back!

The gauges are mounted solidly with two brackets that reach under the radio bezel...it would be easy to remove them and use the gauges in another car, as the dash under the gauges is fine.

Bump...a few of you that got ahold of me initially before my vacation, feel free to contact me again...surely there are people in the rust belt need a clean body...

May even be able to help with transportation as I travel around a bit. Contact me if interested and maybe we can work something out!

Installing stock steering wheel along with the CSX steering column it had when I first bought it...now the ignition and door locks match again. So I'll drop the price to:

$650

Ok, got a few things done with the Shadow today. Finished up with redoing the headliner. Bought some heavy fabric and the special headliner adhesive. Turned out real nice! Not sure if it will be installed, but it will certainly be included.

http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee39/blk86trbo/026.jpg

Replaced the aftermarket steering wheel with one out of a 88 ES with super low miles. Wheel is in great shape.

http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee39/blk86trbo/043.jpg

Removed the aftermarket gauges, hooked up and installed the stock boost gauge.

Hey all there is a person interested in more photos that has first dibs after I post these.

Today I washed the grime off the Shadow and here are some specific pictures. Floors, doors and wheelwell lips are in very, very good shape. In fact, with the whole car wet, it looks like a million dollars! Please understand that when it dries (it was raining when I took the pictures) the topside of the car is still going to be dull because of the clearcoat issue.

These pictures were taken today

Not sure if he has an account over here, but his name is Jeff and he goes by "necromancer" over on turbododge. He's a nice guy and the transaction went smoothly. His plans are to swap in the drivetrain from a rusted out car and get it back on the road. Hooray!

Hi Angelo! Yeah that was a nice Shadow, don't see too many rust free ones around anymore, and that one was clean! If you get another Shadow, I still have the custom aluminum gauge cluster that was in the car.

Actually it's kinda ironic that you posted in this thread because I've been considering selling that cluster...

I just bought a bunch of gauges for the old Matchbox...got tired of the black faced hard to see at night Auto Meters...almost bought those very same gauges that were in Leathal Weapon Four, but went with a cheaper brand.

Ak...thought I did it right. Ill shoot some of it in a week or two as Ive only been home 1 day this month and tomorrow IM loading up the Apex and SRX and going sledding in the UP. Since those last pics Ive done the windows upgrade so bye bye pics.
Ive still yet to paint it as I bought a 87 Sundance southern car and I had to hurry up and finish it ie paint, tires etc for the wife before it got to cool outside to shoot paint. The Sundance got painted that Ice Blue Melt color and turned out really nice considering I bought the 100.00 paint on ebay. Wifes brother couldnt believe I painted it outside and it turned out so well lol...It did set in one of those tarp car ports while the paint cured for 2 weeks which helped.
The Shadow is next this summer as I already shelled out the 300.00 + for the mixed factory paint. These zero rust cars sure make it a no brainier body work job for us amateurs.
Hope you and your parents had a nice Christmas eh....or whatever as the case may be :thumb:
