I don't know of any other ones that are available, the ones FWD carries are custom made for the TIII.

Has the use of these retainers been proven to provide some kind of benefit?

Some guys will swear they are the greatest thing since sliced bread. A properly tensioned timing belt is much more important than these retainers.

That's my point. Guys swear by them but has anyone ever provided proof that they are worth the expense?

Ti retainers take pressure off and make for a longer belt life. They are a must when rebuilding a head in most guys opinions. At least the guys making power anyway. :D You will notice a difference in the way the car revs it makes such a difference.

Will swapping them in increase the engine's redline?

That alone will not do it, But it will help. But, the top end wont float valves till 9.5k or so.

I built a TIII that was all stock but the Ti retainers and it does make quite a bit of a difference in everything from faster and easier reving to faster start-up. It is a huge relief for the valvetrain in a whole. That and a properly tensioned belt(95 ft/lbs) and you should have a very long valvetrain and timing belt life:thumb:

I will never build another TIII without the Ti retainers again period.

If you cant get ahold of Cindy try Rick D,he is who originally had them made and has a box full of hundreds of them at his house ready to ship:thumb:
