I want to put some different seats in the '89 CSX, at least while I resto the Recaros. I don't have a lot of junkyards to choose from around here. If I can't find a good enough set of P-body seats, are there any others that will fit (Spirit, Daytona, etc.)?

I do know that they switched the mounting brackets / rails and floorpan between '87 and '88, I think '89 is the same as '88 tho... more info here (http://www.badassperformance.com/mtech/87-88_p-body_seat_id.html)

Other that p-body seats should fit but you might just have to swap the rails as well.

Thanks, JT. Interesting info. I've had a couple of '87s and an '88 over the years, but I never noticed that difference. I did find there was a difference between the rear seats of my old '88 Sundance and a '93 (I think) that I looked at in the junkyard once. The back part was shaped completely differently on the sides.

You're welcome. Yeah, I didnt notice that difference until I was putting a set of '88 seats into my '87 T2 shadow, so thats why I made the notes.

Along time ago, I put in 90+ Shelby Daytona seats into my 87 Shadow. I had to swap the seat rails from my shadow seats to the daytona seats to bolt them. Looked good and were much more confortable with daytona seats.

I've also noticed that the seats from my 90 shadow(seats from 89shadow) don't line up exactly with my 91 Shadow. I had to leave one bolt out when installing the 89 seats into my 91 shadow.

Not that it really applies David since you are switching from P body to P body, but when I replaced the factory seats out of my Rampage to some 89 CSX seats, the CSX seats were 14lbs lighter each! I guess I figured L body seats would be lighter:confused: I kind of like the later Shadow America seats with that funky semi-integrated headrest. Plain Jane but comfy
