Hi guys, please forgive my noobishness when it comes to the CTD trucks, I'm posting this for a friend. He would like to put some 1 ton (3500 I believe) springs on his 3/4 ton (2500). I'm pretty sure his truck is an '02 or '03. Do they swap right in? Has anyone tried it yet?

He'd like to know before he drops the cash on them and finds out that something doesn't fit.
Thanks

Front or rears? If it is fronts, and a CTD I doubt there is a difference. The rears might too, but Ive heard the 3/4 CTDs are a 1 ton without the duals.

I'm pretty sure it's fronts only (mostly for plowing). The rears are leafs correct?

Pretty sure that on the newer trucks the 2500 and 3500 share the same frames, so I would expect that they swap back and forth. Has he looked into airbags at all? They are a good way to get the extra capacity when you need it and keep a decent ride when you don't.

Dunno if he's thought about airbags. I'll make sure I mention it.

02' and 03' will be completely different. 94-02 is the second generation.

If the 2500 has a camper special or plow package it will have 1 ton springs. However, my CTD was a 2500 base model and it did not get the 1 ton springs. My brother's 02' 2500 has the camper special and you could even see the difference in the coils. Also, his rear springs had like 3-4 more leaf's than mine as well. But, his truck rides like a rock and mine was relatively smooth (for a HD truck).

The actual year doesn't matter all that much. If he decides to get springs he'll get them from the dealer for the proper year, I just have a bad memory.

I don't think he really cares about the ride.

So are we at the point where there's a very good chance (95%+) that the springs will swap right in?
