Any reason why? I can get nice cast ones, :thumb:

I've got one, but the crank sprocket is stuck on so you'd have to come get it with the shortblock.

450-500 whp isn't strong enough?

Sure Simon, lots of guys are making 500 with a cast crank with no flexing/crankwalk issues:rolleyes: Names prefered please. You mean motors are supposed to survive more than one trip to the track????

A forged crank will flex more than a cast crank. Cast crank doesn't flex much, it just snaps. Fortunately in a common block you won't really have this problem as the main webbing does a good job at keeping the crank in place.

Alan you are probably forgetting that the 2.5 is a cast crank huh? There's a few people over 400 WHP with the 2.5 crank, and a 2.2 crank should hold up even better since the shorter stroke there will be less load on it.
I myself am running the TBI cast 2.2 crank in a common block, going for 400 WHP.

What Matt said, there are quite a few guys running cast cranks, I am also running one, I have no choice plus there lighter, helps the engine spin faster and create some mad rpm, :partywoot::evil:

For common block or no?

Honestly I think a cast crank is better in a non-CB as well, my old 300 WHP daytona ran an 87 T2 block with T1 cast crank. As stated earlier a forged crank flexes more than a cast crank, and the main webbing isn't as strong in the non-CB so that flexing rips up the main's. Also, the heavier crank puts more stress on the main's too.

I have an '89 TIV c.b. getting machined, hopefully will be done this week.
